What I means is...will it have everything under the sun availible like the original VW bugs?.. as it seems most Mini owners take some pride in modifying their cars to some degree.Just wondering what you think..I know it wont be long till i see a picture of a stretched Mini Limi...lol

There have been rumors that BMW is building a stretch MINI, for the 2004 model year I've heard. Not a limi but that would be unbelievable. I'll have to photoshop that one.

lol...Ok...Now I have seen it all! How long does it take to do that with photoshop anyway? I have MGI photosuite but I'm not familiar enough with it to do anything like that...perhaps you could do a jacked up 4 wheel drive?

Not to discourage future creativity (please PShop away!), but a few of these have already been done as well. Here are a couple for your viewing pleasure:

The Lini and the Green Monster truck are not photoshop. It seems to me that the Green truck is 3DStudioMax, and the limo is probably Lightwave or Maya.

And what exactly does this have to do with how far aftermarket dealers will go? I like some of the pics though...

To further stray from the thread topic, I have to take exception to your signature line "a Cooper without a white roof is like a Ferrari that is not red"- my Cooper has a black roof and my favorite Ferraris are NOT red...!

A MINI looks great in any color. The red/black is a favorite of mine. But, I like the rally roots and heritage of the mini and choose to embrace that nostalgia.

I also wouldn't paint a Delorean!!!

SORRY FOR NEARLY
HIJACKING THE THREAD.
BACK TO THE TOPIC:

I think aftermarket part availability will increase after the cars hit the resale market. A younger audience with no responsibilities (house, family...etc) and a lot of disposable income will buy used MINI's and want to "fix" them. Then I'm sure both performance and aesthetic mods will increase as non-MINI focused parts dealers see a potential in the MINI market.

From what I understand, BMW's targeted MINI buyer was younger than who actually bought MINI's. The older buyer is typically more in tune with the MINI heritage and a classic english auto styling and will initially drive the aftermarket towards performance.

I hope that the aftermarket booms and there is a good balance between perfomance and aesthetics. Personally, I like to see what people do to their cars to make them "look better" as they adjust to style to suit their tastes. The good, the bad, and the ugly--I'd like to see them all. Diversity is what keeps things interesting!
