Dwell Magazine May 06

I had a few minutes to breathe today for the first time in a few weeks and decided to flip through my May Dwell magazine.

I was surprised to see the MINI has chosen to join with Dwell for a HUGE sponsorship program in the next few months. The spread began on page 48 and ended on page 89. They even teased with a few hints they'd be back for future issues. Then they again appeared in the back of the magazine for the advertiser's section for four pages.

Pretty impressive. They're after a new breed of customer. Interesting though, when I was at the Pre-fab show a month ago sponsored by Dwell, I was the only MINI in the lot. Sure there may have been others, but not very many of us.

I will definitely pick up that issue, thanks for the heads-up!

For us, especially in Cali, modern pre-fab (my dream Breeze House!) and MINIs are a perfect match.

We're doing a glide home in AZ. Those Eichler's are superb!

I haven't seen a Breeze housee, are they like the prefab houses in Dwell? Looked them up in google and found a modern tiki hut style. Are there others? Oh. Those are int he UK. The ones at the prefab conference show a home like a glidehouse. Very nice!

I want to build a Rocio Romero LV series, but they aren't engineered for Florida, yet, or so they tell me. I want to put a garage underneath, since we can't do the basement version here.

That is quite a collection of furniture you have there I'm guessing you're an Eames fan

Love the central atrium and admire your spare approach to home decor. Mine is more the cluttered and wackily eccentric approach...LOL!

It's definitely almost a religion to be able to live that way, I think. I admire you greatly, but I would go NUTS!

I just looked up Glide houses on the web; very cool. What does yours look like?

I used to live in AZ; wouldn't mind retiring there. Whereabouts are you building?

Yes, let's do the home design thread!

For those who are interested, see the Breeze House at Michelle Kaufmann's website, http://www.mkd-arc.com/.

Bob, we're in Castro Valley, too! PM us (Pteri and Finalstatic) when your Mini arrives and we'll hit the twisties. Regrettably, our 50s ranch has been brutalized by terrible wallpaper and other sins.

Stef, start a new thread ...... something like Home Design! Home Improvement is a bit Tim Allen-ish and not quite the same thing...

We're going to be closest to Snowflake. We're doing a custom design. Kindof a square with an atrium in the center. I have cats, where we'll be living they'll be coyote bait if we don't give them an enclosed place to live. Thus the atrium without access to the great outdoors.

Sounds like our house. Our dogs love laying in the sun in the atrium. Here's our floorplan:
