I think if they simply just look at the number of sold 05-06s they would make it..check their forum as well.

Yah, I don't think they can just stop and make one. Its also costly. But now that they have seen the need for one they can plan to make one Hopefully

It would be a lot easier for Bentley to publish an updated manual than it was for the original edition. Since a good 80% of the car is essentially unchanged from '04 and before, they need only supplement the existing manual with the new and/or revised information. The biggest changes are the convertible and the MCS automatic trans, with accessory and wiring changes otherwise. Major teardown, procedures and photography is relevent with the entire 1st generation, they need only to make updates for the few major changes. They have it easy in this case. They have to start from scratch with the '07s.

Bentley is doing themselves a disservice just as much as us if they dont release an updated manual.

Agreed, it would be easier, but it's still a matter of economics.

Bentley is in the business to make $$. And while MINI production and sales are very strong for the 05/06 model years, we are still talking a niche vehicle. It might not be worth it for them to invest the time and energy for a total run or what, 100,000 cabrios? Maybe a specialty aftermarket house like Mini-Madness or Webb Motorsports could come up with a supplement that covers the changes made to the last two model years, or better still, why not petition Haynes. I know that they too have done a manual for the new MINI.

The Haynes manual covers 05. This is from their website:
Mini Petrol (July 2001 - 05) Y to 05 Reg
Covers new Mini (including Cooper and Cooper S) petrol models July 2001 to date.
Covers major mechanical features of Cabriolet.
Does not cover Diesel models.
Book No: 4273
ISBN: 1844252736
I already have the Bentley and have hesitated to get the Haynes because it is reported to have much less detail. However, I've heard that the Haynes has very good electrical diagrams so I'll probably get it anyway.

For working on my '06 convertible, the BMW TIS service manual CD ROM has been very helpful. They are available on eBay for very low prices (search eBay Motors for BMW TIS). The user interface is bad and awkward to find the information you want, but it has given me good information for taking apart various trim on my convertible. There is much information in the Bentley manual that seems to have been derived from the BMW CD-ROM.

I'll be one of the first to buy the updated manual if/when it finally comes out.

Wow that's great news indeed! Heck I never would have thought they'd decide to go with the new manual this quick. I thought we'd be asking for a very long time before they decided to print one, if ever. Thanks Bentley Publishing!!!

Just a bump for those that have joined since April, they are indeed making one, still no date availible yet, every once and a while there is a post on the maufacter forum with another request, they've been very understanding so far, but these things do take time.

I guessing they will do like they did with MGB: 1962-74 and 1975-80.

Posted my request for the 2002-06 manual.

Edit: March of 07 will be the release of the 2002-06 book.

Vazquezgordo,

We are currently updating the 2002-2004 MIMI manual to cover 2002-2006, including convertible and whatever applicable JCW (John Cooper Works) factory info we can find. It should available by March 2007.

I'd like to see it for my '05 too. I have the up-to-'04 Bentley manual. It satisfied me during my wait while "April" was being built and shipped to the USA. :-)
