Am I guna be in for a hassle?

Last week, I called to make an appointment for my first oil service and to work the service bulletin on my moaning LSD. The Service Writer said this whole week was wide open, just to make sure my countdown readout was at 500 miles or less or they would not do the oil service. As I drove to work this morning, it's sitting on 625 miles. I know it's not an exact countdown and it will likely drop to 600 by the time I get to the dealer this afternoon, but no way it's going to drop to 500. I can't believe MINI is this picky, on my previous BMW's, they never seemed to care as long as it was under 1000 or so, in fact, I took my M3 in to have the sunroof fixed, its counter was at 1500 miles, so they offered to do the Inspection II while it was there (which on a M3 is around $1000 retail!). I guess I'm just going to take it in, insist they do the LSD service and hope they won't give me any grief about the oil service. Any similar experiences?

I don't see what the problem is...

...just drive the hell out of it on the way to the dealer!!

No, seriously, maybe just try and do a couple laps around the dealership, and try to get it around 550 or so. I'm sure they'll honor it then.

completely dependent on the dealer - some are super-flexible, and some like (yours) are pointlessly difficult

Uneventful. They pointed out that my key said 621 miles to go (the counter was on 600) but they did it along with the LSD service bulletin. Thanks MOTW.
