In all likelyhood, yes. The nice thing about the iPod adapter though, is that it charges your ipod and you can control the iPod from a MFSW.

The aux input has a headphone jack on the end so you can basically plug anything into it with an audio out. I have the audio from a DVD player plugged into mine as well as and Ipod.

If your notebook has a stereo output minijack (and the pretty much all do) then yes.

try it

You've got to listen for yourself. You might save $550. I brought a CD of my favorite music, hoping to live without the HK. To me, the non-HK sounded like an old AM radio, and the HK sounded like a decent home stereo.

As I read this whole thread no one even mentioned the upgrade for the stock system the Digital Power Sound Module. It's expensive and I wonder if it's really worth it?

I had done a lot of searching for info on this and even posted a thread asking if anyone had it. Until very recently I had never heard of anyone who had it. But in another thread I finally got a response to an inquiry and someone has it and seems to love it.

You will see some info on it from that one person on page three of this thread

If you've got the non-HK system I'd first look at replacing the speakers. The factory speakers have the usual paper cones as expected for most cars.

I bet speakers alone will make quite a difference! If you're still not satisfied, then go for the amp or HU or both.

Just in case the factory vehicle warranty is important to you... some MINI dealers have been known to be really picky about non-standard stereo installs, rear tail lights mods, flashing CHMSL mods, front driving light mods, etc. Modify the electrical systems of these complex beasties at your own risk...

I bought my car used, and would not have choosen the HK for a new car, but having the HK and the iPod line-in adaptor have changed my mind. It's awesome and a must have, even over the LSD for most of us...

I just took a spin in my old 02 MC (which I am still trying to sell). I forgot how good that stereo sounds!!! Its stock everything with a nice Alpine deck, sounds WAY better than just stock. IMO the stock speakers are not the weakest link, its the head unit. This is often true of stock systems. The stock speakers just need more power to them and they sound sooo much better. My advice would definately be to not get the HK upgrade but to then upgrade the head unit yourself to a nice Alpine, this would be well under $500. The plus side of this is it is then easy to add on to it later if you want - amp and sub, etc. If you did go with the HK and later wanted to upgrade it will be much harder I've heard, and probably more expensive.
