Vendors, it would sure be nice to have an aftermarket solid screen for the sunroof.

I found out that Webasto makes the sunroof for the MINI, and I contacted them about a solid panel sunscreen shade, but I received no response. I did not aggresively go after it, but I think it is something that would sell extremely well.

Just a thought,
JS

I bet the dealers might have something like this soon. Just a hunch.

In about a month we will have perforated pieces just for the sunroof sections. These will act as an additional layer of tint and will install very easily. Keep your eyes open as we will post the press release and pictures here first.

I've read in several threads that tinting the sunroof is not recommended due to glass shattering because of uneven thermal expansion of the tint material and the glass. Is there an issue with the material you use?

Ron

Considering a sunroof on my future MC.

Here is a link to the thread here on MCO.

Sunroof Tinting

I've read about it on other boards too.

I would be in the market for something like this too. Preferably a solid replacement of the pull screens (front and back). A darkened sunroof (tint or otherwise) would be my second choice.

With so many folks wanting a solid panel to replace the perforation, you have to wonder why it is not available aftermarket.

How hard can it be to wind material on a roller? I guess I will find out when I get mine to play around with. If no one has done it yet, it must be more difficult than I am expecting.

Tinting the glass further does not seem to be the answer, just another bandaid IMHO.

Some sun visor extensions would be nice, too.

While a *solid* type screen would be great to have, I would like to see a rag top. Crevier MINI has one that the maker cut the roof and installed the ragtop. Very cool. My guy didn't know if they have done one retrofitting the OEM sunroof or not, but that's what I would really like to see.

There's actually an option for that on the MINI configurator. Shows animation of it opening and closing over the sunroof opening.
