Keyed

Last night my MINI was keyed inside the secure parking garage at my apts.
2 scratches on the drivers door from the door handle to the mirror. I have an idea who may have done it but what proof do I have? I am so darn p*&%ed off!

Now I have to take time off work tomorrow, go to the insurance place, file a claim and find a shop that can fix the scratches.

It just makes me so mad that somebody would intentionally damage someones property for nothing.

So sorry about the nasty keying incident, dufrinr! Are the scratches down to the metal? You'll be able to get it repaired and looking great again. Maybe a car cover is a good idea for you?

If it's secure don't they have some video surveillance? Isn't vandalism against the law, file a policy report, see if you can get some tape of the perp.

This kind of thing is really sad. Happened to me years ago, still bothers me to think about it. Some people are just....

Hope you get it repaired OK.

Not down to the metal thank goodness. Since I am an Ameican here in Korea the police are not that helpful to foreigners. My insurance will cover the repair.

If I put on my car cover daily.....dang may ask for more of the same for being ****. I know folks are a bit jealous of the car anyway.

If you're not going to get any help from the law you should take things into your own hands. If you know who did it to you and you can get them to admit it, give him a couple black eyes for me

NO ONE disrespects the MINI.

If you don't defend yourself no one will. And remember- "when you fight, fight to ensure they will never wish to fight you again"

That's weak. Messing with a man's(or woman's) car is the ulitmate low . I always wanted try one of those electric shock setups, if anyone touches your car they effectively get tasered.

yeah they do it on door handles for some diplomats rides so no one snatches em, but some riot vehicles have it full body.

i guess you or your friends never encountered porters that damage wheels at
shops... ive seen, experienced, and heard too many stories of porters
curbing wheels while they move the car around the shop or even stick the
car into their damned autowash .

that's why. he has wheels that cost a fortune.

Get a motion camera, and put it up. It will record when motion is detected straight to your VCR. My brother had one and it worked pretty good.

That sucks dude!!!

Someone really messed with my Saab last year. It was keyed, tires were slashed, doors kicked in...a real mess.

BUT, my insurance paid 100%, and it was fixed quickly and looked just like new. Your MINI will be the same.

Good luck

Yeah that really sux.. I don't understand how people can do that... it's the same people that park right next to you (when you're parked in the boonies to get away from people), just to open their doors and ding your car... I hope I can avoid dings forever.

Sorry....that sucks! People that do that sort of thing are just cowards
Your car will be find in the end, but it is such a hassel to file an insurance claim & do w/o your car durring repairs... and hope it doesn't happen again.

Doe's this other person have a car? May have to introduce them to the American sport of Baseball with a BF-BATT!

Sorry to hear about the key damage. Pettiness is such an ugly personality trait, but far too common.

We came out from a restaurant last night and someone had spit a big, slimey green wad of mucous on the hood of our MINI. Bleh. Snot green does NOT go well with CR, so I had to wash down the hood when I got home. I doubt it would have happened if we had taken our minivan.

Thanks gang. Will get the estimate today. My insurance will pay 90% for the repairs.

But not a good day when I went to my insurance yesterday......scraped my rim on a small bump on the drive way. Not having a good MINI week. Maybe the MINI gods are mad at me . I asked the insurance if I could claim the wheel damage. They said no.......time to make lemonaid.

However..all work will get done this weekend. Get my new Sachs clutch installed, get the scrapes fixed, and rim too.

Got my estimate today for the repair. $500! I have to pay out of pocket 10% through AIG. Rim damage repair is $150 out of my pocket.

At least you might be able to fill in or buff out the damage. My car has been deliberately DENTED in three places. They just shoved a shopping cart against the door.
I'd love to smash their car windows but, unlike them, I'm a mature, civilized person. What is it with people and shopping carts and car keys? Some people need to learn to appreciate that they even actually own a car. There are tons of countries out there where nobody can afford a battered, used up Lada. If you don't know what a Lada is, let me give you a hint, a Soviet-era car that makes a Yugo feel and drive like a Rolls Royce!

USA / KOREA - What's the difference ?

Let's face it, even if it happened in the USA, how much real help would you receive here ? You would be asked to fill out an incident report and submit it to the desk clerk....right ?

You might check with the parking garage's owner especially if they are purporting the garage to be a "secure parking facility'. They have to carry their own insurance and can be found culpable for mailicous damages done to your MINI. Just a matter of filing a written claim with them.

Good luck.
