Parking Brake Adjustment

I've searched out the past posts on how to do the adjustment. I want to take some slack out of the handle travel as it now takes 5 or 6 clicks before the hand brake feels like it is fully set. I can even pull it up a seventh notch if I pull enough.

I just want to do a quick adjustment at the cable adjuster nut and wanted to know from those that have done the full procedure on adjusting, how many clicks before your brakes are set? Is 5/6 a bit excessive? What's "normal"?

I don't know what's normal but mine seems to need adjusting also so I'll watch this thread for an answer because at least five people will know how and post here.

According to the Bentley manual, five to six "clicks" is normal. The parking brake is self adjusting and operate on the rear wheels. If you need more than seven "clicks" to set the brake, the first thing to check is the thickness of the rear pads. They may need to be replaced.

Thank you. 5 or 6 clicks seemed a bit excessive, but if that's what's called for...

I'm coming from a world of Hondas/Acuras and more recently a 993 and parking brake setting was a matter of 3 or 4 clicks. Also, with the distance between clicks on the mini, the handle seems to sit very high when it's engaged and I keep bumping into it when the car is parked. Just thought it might be out of spec as I've just bought this used 02MC a few weeks ago and am trying to sort things out.

My '06 only has 1000 miles on it, but two clicks is all I need.

My '05 has 23K miles and 3 clicks holds the car fine except on a steep grade. Then 4 does the trick.
