FAMOUS MINI sold on ebay.. in half!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Look closely at the pictures! This is THE Mini_Motion MINI concept from MINI! I bet it was cut in half because you can't sell a show car (most are crushed)

I just noticed the paintjob!

Wow, reminds me of when they found one of the RTS show cars, the Duster, in a parking garage....

You never quite know what you will find in wrecking yards these days...

What a waste! Why couldn't they just sell it? Probably for tax reasons, but I don't understand these rules sometimes.

Liability reasions

Most proably not sold because of insurance liability issues.
If ther is ANY customization someone could go back and say that the modification caused other issues.

SAD

Can someone please explain exactly why a show car can't be sold? I don't understand tax reasons or liability reasons.

Cutting a car in half seems insane.

Did anybody notice this in the description:

"It is used but in good condition."

The main reason is that show cars seldom have a VIN. Can't sell a car without one.

Yes you can.

Its can be sold strictly as a parts car, as-is with only a bill of sale.

This would have only been a waste if they hadn't actually build the production cars. We can at least go buy a MINI and enjoy it.

Think of all those concept cars that are built and never turn into a "real" car. Distroying THOSE cars is a waste.

It was just a paint job on a Cooper. It was really well done, though, and probably cost about 10 grand

Check out http://www.minimotionusa.com and click on "concept"

MINI Motion is a line of MINI apparel that was considered the best marketing campaign of th year in 2004. It established a real brand identity, but they never really went anywhere with it

Now all you have to do is get the front half of one of the "italian job" Mini's and you've really got something. What that is I'm not sure.

I'm the guy who purchased that 3/4 MINI. Plan to shave it down and make an enclosed trailer to pull behind my MCSC PS...just for show more than anything. Should have it by the end of next week and hope to get started on the modifications soon. Hope to have it in time to show it off at The Dragon.

Off topic, but saakey, that is one bad a$$ MINI you have there. The color combo has got to look really, really good. Hope you come to The Dragon and show that baby off.

Hey thanks...I think/hope it will look good...as i don't actually have my car yet ...but it is setting sail tomorrow (saturday) ...
I just found out my wife can't go to the Dragon due to her schooling on the weekends so i'm stuck trying to see if i can go it alone - it's a wait and see if i can pull it off
