It seems to me that there are many miata/former miata owners out there!
Just curious who you all are. I personally kept my 97 Red & hopefully will have 2 motoring cars when Louie gets here. Bought my miata pretty basic 6 years ago. I've added many after market items over the years with several things out in the garage to add when Louie arrives. Unfortunately I'm driving the little red ice skate in the winter mess right now! Spinning Miatas is a real thrill Just hope I bond as well with the MINI

I traded in my 99 Miata for MINI ME. I was worried I would miss my little guy but haven't yet, just love the MCS that much. I have plans of trying to find and purchase a 93 limited Edition Black with Red Leather interior. Then I could have my cake and eat it too.

I went to a Miata event in Ottawa this past summer & saw the 93 Limited Edition. It was sooo sharp!!! Good luck in finding one!

If the choice had been get rid of the Miata for the MINI, I would never have done it. They are completely different vehicles. So gald you chose to keep yours. And glad MINIMOTERIN is looking for another.

The Miata is my toy, my therapy, my true joy in driving, I will give up the Cooper and the S before I would ever part with the Miata.

Miata's should only be upgraded for the newer model, then the old should be shared with family or a close friend,

Cheers for the Mazda engineers who have kept it a pure roadster and not mucked it up with size and horsepower.

The MINI's are my daily drivers, The Miata is my passion!!!!

See my last post in the CWFAC

Motor on

But keep the Miata for sefish indulgence

Decided to get something just as fun, but slightly more practical.

Only thing practical about a Miata is the smile it puts on my face!!!
The MINI is more practical excellent point.

But, think of all the good you're doing for the world with your MINI. Just watch all of the smiles it puts on other people's faces.

Davbret, just noticed the tag. Love it.

I had the twilight blue mica on my 99 with chromed out interior and a chrome Hard Dog roll bar. Loved that car!

I love Miatas and have almost bought one, twice, but the MINI is far more usable for daily driving, hauling stuff, dogs and friends. Plus the MCS blows any stock Miata off the road. (Sorry Miata lovers, but it does.)

So sorry about the Miata. It was a beautiful car.

Rat
My Miata is also my fun car. I traded a 94 Altima for my MINI & they gave me such a good trade-in on it I had to turn it in to them that day. Normally the Miata is in the garage during the winter & only comes out on the occasional top-down day

Mine is also a Garage queen. Only driven for pleasure (8000 miles of pleasure last summer

The top gets put up for washing and emergencies. I would guess 7500 of those miles were top stored appropriatly. 2001 ls Pure White 6spd and it is beautiful. Yest the CooperS will blow it away. But other than fun, they are completely different rides. I love them both

Des Moines here so maybe see you in sept

'95 Black Miata with Monster Motorsports roll bar, 195/55-14 tires and the "baby teeth" removed...You Miata types know what I'm talkin' about...Just enough mods to stay in stock SCCA autocross class.

I didn't think anything could compare to throwing the Miata around the track, top down and tires howlin', but I got the wife's MCS over to Gingerman late last year, and "Oh my goodness!"...These things act like they're mid-engined or something(with the DCS off, of course)...The thing pivots right in the middle.

I don't plan to get rid of the Miata...I've got the best of both worlds right now. And taken together they are like some sorta Retro-Pseudo-Anglo-Racing team.

I HAVE a '99 JRSC Miata and just got th wife a '02 MCS. Both are matching Silver, the Miata with hardtop now in the winter and the MCS with black top and mirrors. I must say that as a family devoted to NO SUVs we love these cars.

The wife originally thought that I would steal her mini. She and was counting on this to get at the miata. . . It almost happened but I cannot trade into a FWD car no matter what. There is a basic difference in the vehicles.

The SC Miata is easy to steer with the throttle and loves to bounce around. She turns quickly and is a roadster. The mini reminds me of my BMW experences, fun quick and refined (comparitively). However in a turn (with DSC off) it just can't compete with the tossability of the miata. With the DSC on it's keeping us safe, and a bit boring.

However the Mini is our favorite car and we got it because traveling from Atlanta to, say, New Orleanes or Panama City was just no fun in the Miata. We needed somethign that had more room!

Last point, in Atlanta we've got RSPEED (GREAT COMPANY) and I'd love to know how many folks have both Mini and Miata. It seems like a great combo!

-Ian-

BTW I'm looking for folks in the Atlanta area that are upgrading their MCS, anyone out there?

Seems to be a trend here. Maybe vs is the wrong term. The best of both worlds I believe is much more accurate. When we first got the Cooper I drove it for about a week with out driving the Miata. It was a blast!! I was almost scared that I would loose my desire for the Miata. I went to the Garage and squeezed into the cockpit, more fear set in, it seemed crowded compared to the Cooper. Then I cranked it over and all was right with the world. Kid's gone to the other parents and MINIJAMIE and I always go for the Miata, it truly is an obsession. I consider myself fortunate that my dream toy non practical car, is affordable and hidden in the back of my very happy garage. I think the MINI and the Miata are a fine compliment to eachother. To bad BMW didn't buy MG, maybe I would have another Midget instead. And as far as looks, It sure is nice to drive pieces of art work, they are both gorgous

I traded a Honda Accord (daily driver) and sold my Miata (Autocrosser & weekend car) to buy my MINI. I now have a car with close to the Accords practicality and close to the Miatas fun to drive factor, but the MINI is a better single car than both the Accord and Miata combined. Sum of its parts so to speak. The true test will be a Deal's Gap run in the MINI. I am going to Deals Gap in July for the Miata meet to drive a borrowed, heavily modified Miata and my MINI back to back.
As for a Cooper S smoking a Miata- its the nut behind the wheel that determines that. I smoked a Camaro SS with a stock 1.6l Miata on the tail of the dragon. I do not know for sure which car, MINI or Miata, will fair better at the Gap so I'll post a full review in April.

My red '95 shares the garage with my 'S. Spousal unit was happy to get primary driving rights to the Miata - aka the 'spiffy car', but must admit to driving it at least once a month. Sun roofs are cool but there's nothing like a true rag top.

Besides there's no car that looks so cool with teeth... the MINI gets attention but no more that my Miata with teeth.....check out http://www.auto-expressions.com. My red '95 is in the scrapbook overlooking the Golden Gate. I've tried to convince them to try a kit for the MINI but so far no luck altho the gereric kit would probably work....

Davbret do you post on Miata.net? I still visit and post on that forum as monaco. I am going to the local Miata meeting tonight even though I have been Miata less since Jan 18th.
The hardest part of Gap weekends for me is leaving the R compund tires at home. I can just see someone trying to take every corner as fast as a R compund tired car it would go from to in a corner and a half.
Louie instead of taking your MINI to Hawaii, just...wait when you said sweetie you meant SO. My mistake.
Look for me in July, I'll have the IB/W Cooper w/SSRs and be hanging out with a buddy who owns a 92 BRG Miata w/ an Anhelo body kit.

I've already started softening up my Miata motoring buddies towards the MINI.
Looks like we'll have a little MINI/Miata event in July. Also a group of Miata friends are going to the Gap in May( same weekend as the MINIS) We'll get those MINIS & Miatas together yet
