I have several "cruisin" playlists on my iPod, depending on my mood, and whether the top is up or down. Current "top down" list has about 90 songs on it, but some of my favs include:

I Don't Like Mondays, by the Boomtown Rats
Get a Haircut, by George Thorogood
A Little Less Conversation, by Elvis vs. JxL
Soak up the Sun, by Cheryl Crow
Don't Be Cruel, by Cheap Trick
Viva Colonia, by De Höhner

The rest of the playlist is just as mixed up! lol

I just got the best CD I have ever heard form the library:

Hayseed Dixie "A Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC"

Perfect mix of one of my childhood favorite bands (AC/DC) and my new favorite music type (bluegrass) For Hells Bells they use a chime instead of the AC/DC church bell, absolutly priceless!

Right now one of my favs is Kanye West - Gold Digger

My friends make fun of me for listening to such young music (I make fun of them for listening to fogey music 2 ) but that is just where my taste runs. Picture me (40 yo lady) riding with the top down & Gold Digger blaring outa my speakers w/me singing along in a terrible voice

Next big Indie band to hail from the UK (surplanting Oasis etc)......the "Arctic Monkeys" from Sheffield (also home to bands such as Pulp, The Human League, Heaven 17).

Their current (debut) album is being lauded by the UK rock press as one of the top 10 albums of all time. Not sure about that, but I've been playing it non-stop for the past week

If you want to check them out, they're on Saturday Night Live (03/11) in advance of their sell-out US tour.

Jem-24

people need to check out Jem (look her up on google or iTunes). She is an amazing artist that nobody knows about here.

She is a mix of like Dido and Everesence(sp) but different in the best way.

I sampled her songs on iTunes and got her CD from best buy about 2 weeks ago. Been so happy. her CD is just amazing for cruising.

Didn't see it mentioned and was surprised.

Cars - by Gary Neuman (or Fear Factory cover)

Here in my car, if feel safest of all...

Gasoline by Audioslave or Audioslave in general.

I've had my mini for about a month now, put about 2500 miles, no tune seemed to click...... until this morning.

Warm Florida morning, top down, quiet road and "moments in love" by Art of Noise comes on. I had one of those "surreal" moments, very nice!!!!!
