I drive regular suspension and 16" tires everyday. Handling is not that much different. Ride quality is not much different either. In fact, Car and driver did a handling comparison between a Cooper with 15" and one with sport suspension and 17" tires and found the handling the same. I noticed a little more road noise with the 17" and SS package, that's about it.
