Hey MINIacs:

As many of you may know, my 2003 LY/B MCS, Randy Webbed MINI is retiring this week. Affectionately her name was "My Sharona" after the Knack song. Hard banging, easy to sing along with, driving music, of a dubious topic.

I've spent many an hour (you know how it is) considering naming options for my 2006 AB/S MCS Checkmate JCW, and I've finally got it.

I got over the hurdle of wanting a female name, with a rock song associated with it. I've broken that habit.

Are you ready?

POISON

After the Alice Cooper song of the same name. The song has a killer presentation with perfect words for a MINIac. And I've driven to it, many times.

Lyrics like:

You're cruel device,
Your blood like ice.
One look could kill,

or:

You're poison runnin' through my veins
You're poison, I don't wanna break this chain
Poison

and:

One look (one look), could kill (could kill),
My pain, your thrill.

Doesn't all of that sound like MINIlust? I think so, so, POISON it is. With Ontario, Canada plates that proudly read:

Poison sounds like a good enough name for the new MINI but why oh why did you have to bring up that dreadful Alice Cooper song.

Easily one the worst songs of that time period.

 

Congrats on the new baby, rygold! Poison is also a lovely, pricey perfume!

 

Poison is also a wonderful song by the great Bel Biv Devo. Wonderful. "Never trust a big butt with a smile." God I love those guys.
