What a jerk!!! I hate when people park like idiots, I don't understand why people drive vehicles that they can't park, I find nothing more frustrating then vehicles parking over the lines, especially when you go out of your way to park in the lower 40 so that idiots won't get to close . Great idea to leave a motoring citation though, would have love to seen the drivers expression when they returned to their vehicle .

funny...

where i used to live (on the main line outside philly) this was the STANDARD way to park. too many people with too much money who are WAY too busy to get off the phone to actually put all four tires inside the lines....

used to **** me off to no end....for me it ranks only below the folks who don't bother to clean snow off their cars/trucks....

I get to work early to get an end spot and park to the extreme far side of it; next guy comes along and parks right on or over the line. You see, he's judging a distance between him and me, not the middle of his spot. I've seen days that if I park on the extreme right side of my spot on the end, almost everybody else in the line is also on the extreme right.

The solution is to park in the spot at an angle so you fill it up. What works best for me is to have the back of my car toward the side next to the next spot. This makes the guy parking next to me park toward the middle of his. This gives space between his doors and my bodywork.

What's up with minivans at the library??? I read this thread before leaving the house today, but had nothing much to add...but then I just happened to have to go to the library... I went to pull into what appeared to be a vacant spot, but quickly decided against it, because a stupid minivan had parked way over the white line into the "empty" spot, so essentially he/she ended up taking 2 spots for their stupid van. Grrr... I have no problems walking from across the parking lot, and I don't even mind the walk, it's just the point of how selfish these parking space hogs are.

When I was in school, there was a guy who wanted everyone to know how much money his family had, so he would park his Corvette as close as he could to the front doors of the building, but at an angle taking up at least two(and sometimes as many as four spaces) so nobody would park too close. Needless to say, this really p***ed everyone off.

One day several of my buddies and I figured out a way to "return" the favor. We all parked in the spaces in front of and behind him, leaving him no room to move forward or backward, then left to go to a football game in another town, and returned after midnight. All the next day we kept hearing about how inconvenienced he was having to find a way home since people were so RUDE that they blocked him in.

He was a fast learner, we only had to do that to him three times before he found a different location and learned how to park.

that ticket should come with a super sticky adhesive...like a decal to paste onto such idiot parker's winshield. and make sure the paper part
peels off of the adhesive when one tries to just work it off from the
edges.

The next time I see one, I'm going to buy a white grease pencil. That way, I can leave a nice, personal note on someone's window without it being permanent or doing any damage.

This entire issue is another reason why MINIUSA should get off their butts and bring the OEM power folding mirrors to the States. It's a factory option for some other countries, so why not here?

The ability to hit one button and instantly fold BOTH mirrors in when you're parking in a "less than ideal" location would be much appreciated!

Anyone want to start a petition to MINIUSA?

(And yes, I know that aftermarket solutions are available, including from newministuff.com, but the OEM solution would be great to have, available as a factory option or at LEAST from any dealer)

I didn't realize that was an option in other countries...very cool! When I am concerned (95% of the time, tee hee), I manually fold my mirrors in...and in front of probable offenders, in the process of parking, whenever possible!

Clover... check out the 2004 news story on Motoring File on it... it even includes a very short video demonstrating them in action!

Attack of the Electronic Folding Mirrors!

And here's a picture of the new button, in the center console, next to the seat heater & mirror adjustment *****/switch:

So I whipped out my MINI Motoring Citations, filled out the info, and left it on their windshield.

Merry Christmas!
Way to go I hate, I mean HATE it when people think that the white lines painted on the ground are only a suggestion............

Only three times? He must be a real brain surgeon!

BTW, the folding mirrors are standard overseas, not an option.

Wow, only three times! Great solution too. I'm so tempted to drill through the shafts of roofing nails, and placing them under their tires! But I'll be nice...

I have the solution!

THE best way to avoid a door ding... this was taken with my camera phone tonight at Home Depot (not great quality, sorry). The best part is, I'd be willing to bet that the space will always be available when I need it.

Saw this picture and thought I'd taken it today. It's happened to me half a dozen times in the past couple of weeks. I've given up out-of-the-way parking since somebody mashed the MINI's side, and decided not to complain about measly door dings (so much), but there must be something about a MINI that attracts creeps. And sometimes its doggoned difficult to get in the car.

AMEN brother... I live in beautiful ol' haverford, and the parking around here is APPALLING!!! I've seen people near my school in NH park their beater volvos better than the locals can park a ferrari! Oh well...at least the MINI gets plenty of half spots due to all the *boats* around here taking up a space and a half

BTW, that's an outstanding personalized parking space Edge!

EDIT: Octane; you said you saw King Kong, but you also said you left 2 hours later... the movie is friggin' 3 and a half hours long! did you get so bored that you decided you needed to go motoring halfway through the film? I sure did...but we had the subaru :(

This is at work! The SUV was parked first.

Note the position of the white line under the SUV's passenger side door. They were parking like this everyday for over a week and I finally had enough of their crap! I left them a little note explaining the concept of common courtesy in parking lots, especially where one works. They don't park like this anymore.

that maybe the car to that cars left may have parked incorrectly causing the car next to you to park the way they did? Thought not. Perhaps you jumped the gun. And if you did then it's you whose the turd. Sometimes you just never know.

Issue a Moron Summons

Here's what I use when I leave notes on vehicles

I have only ever issued three of them and all were for parking like a moron.

HEY, I LOVE guys like this, they have plenty of money to buy and take care of a new car and don't mind engaging in a little CRIMINAL MISCHIEF when they think no one is watching. Less than $1000 is a misdemeanor but over $1000 is a felony here in Fla., pretty easy to do with a good sized dent. He or folks just like him keep a roof over my family's heads and pay my MINI payment each month, but then I am a criminal defense atty. Stupidity is such a universal trait, those with money have it as much as those without any. Wait until they see my bill, it's all paid up front too, preferably cash, cashier's checks or credit cards (I have a machine that attaches to my cell phone).

I wouldn't be too proud of being a lawyer or (or liar) like I like to call you guys, you are a slug, a bottom feeder...now go trade in your MINI for a Mercedes...and don't park too close to me or I'll kick a dent in your car...

Uhm, did you look at the picture #2??

I took it cause there is no one parked to his left. When I parked here 2 hours earlier, there was no one in this area--I was the only car, and with the mall closed on xmas day, there weren't any shoppers, so anyone parking here in the boonies was seeing a movie.

So sometimes, you ought to check the facts before calling someone a Turd?

OMG, look at what this thread is turning into???
