I am concerned about what appears to be an awful lot of problems being reported about the MC and MCS.

Well....my MCS has had a lot of shop time, but every problem has been fixed, just picked it up yesterday for a bad driver's side window, rattled & squeeked, but it is fine now, have had rattles in the rear hatch, sunroof and dash fixed...all ok now...from what I can tell, the newer minis are better made....I got mine in spring of 2002 and was one of the first, so hopefully the bugs have been worked out...any first year car is a gamble, but you are now into the 2nd year, so I wouldn't worry about it....the only worry would be if you were a long way from a mini dealer which I'm not, so not that big a deal and I always get a free loaner car while mine is being serviced, so no big deal even though it can be aggravating at times....good luck

I have had my MCS for 3 weeks. Great car, minor small problems, but after giving it a bath last night noted flaking chrome on left head light bezel. No trauma to car, just flaking (HID light). Have you heard of any other reports of this problem?

I got my MINI in the 1st and when I was waiting and it was getting close the only though I had was I want my "MINI". Never had cold feet, had 'ANT's in the PANTS' drove my wife crazy. She was glad when I finally got 'TIGGER'. When I got the word to come and pickup mt MINI I could not get to the dealer fast enough.....After signing the papers I could get 'MOTORING' fast enough.

I read all the issues here since November, and I relate to it this way. Cars are built and they have issues. It is not that all the cars built have issues (one exception - the YUGO but that is another story) some cars just get a bad part, if 'Tigger' gets sick he will go the doctor. You know if everything in life was always perfect what would we have to complain about.....we are human after all.....we love to complain.

needler, I think you're going to be very happy with your puechase, as others have posted.

In my humble opinion, there are few cars in the price range of the MINI that are as much fun to drive and own. The Subaru WRX is perhaps a little more practical but it doesn't have the MINI's style. I've had my IB/IB 2003 MCS for almost a month and I've never been happier with a major purchase.

Enjoy.

Offended? Moi? Not at all. In fact, I am as non-judgemental as a Unitarian on a Sunday School picnic.

My original point was that there is such a thing as too much information. I would offer similiar advice to someone who was becoming paranoid about war, or terrorists, or the economy... stop watching the news.

As for being pedantic... I swear officer, she said she was 18!

I don't know about the rest of you but my wife and I have been driving Toyotas and Hondas for years. These things NEVER gave us any problems at all. It's been a long time since we had bought a non-Japanese car... in this case, I guess the MINI is a hybrid British/German/Brazilian car???

Bottom line, we brought our new MINI home last weekend and we're expecting Toyota type reliabilty. The only problem we've had in the first week was that the Run-Flat light mysteriously came on. I checked the tire pressures (which were 10 lbs high but constant), reset the switch and everything seems to be fine now.

Fingers crossed for the next 5 years! It sure is fun to drive!

I'm taking my Cooper in for its first repair and I don't think the fact that there is a glitch bothers me. What seems to illicit a greater response is the fact that I have to do without my MINI for a day!!! Maybe this is a secondary source of MINI-repair angst...we may be temporarily have to be parted from our babies!!!
