Just Ordered my Second MINI!

When I bought my MCS back in '02, it was sitting there on the dealer's lot. I didn't get to go through the excitement of configuring my own MINI, having it built, and waiting for it to show up. Well, I'll finally get to experience that.

Today, I placed my order for an '06 Cooper CVT.

I debated hard and long between the MCSa and the MC CVT. My wife and I had decided to replace the MCS with an automatic, so that we would both be able to use it. I work at home, and the MCS was barely driven 3000 miles this year.

I had never driven a Cooper before and was hugely impressed. I don't think the Cooper gets enough props!!!

Here's my config:

PW body color, with PW roof
Chrome line exterior
Cold Weather Package
Convenience Package
DSC
CVT
Piano Black dash
15" 5-Star Rockets
Octagon Tartan Red upholstery
Chrome Line interior
Auto AC
Nav
Park Distance Control
Multifunction steering wheel
iPod Adapter
Factory Roof Rack

Apparently, I get my production number sometime next week. Then the fun begins!

I went up to Knauz last week to test drive, and there was only one MA when I got there. I was able to take both cars out by myself for a test drive. It was nice not having anyone yacking at me while driving!

Avoided an embrassing moment though ... I came to a stop at a stop sign, and out of habit, reached out with my left foot for the clutch. Instead, my foot came down on the left side of the brake pedal, resulting in a not-so-smooth stop. Who figured that you forget how to drive an auto!

Good for you! I think you will be pleased with the build quality and tightness of the new car. I too bought an 02 off the lot. It was a June build MCS that never stranded me, but had the latch thing, the coolant bottle, a bad air bag and it ate O2 sensors. We replaced it with an early build 04 and it has done nothing but run right and work properly.

That's funny about reaching for a clutch. When I test drove an MCSC automatic, I did the same thing. At that point I planted my left foot and just said, "stay."

Keep us posted on the build progress.

Congratulations - I ordered a PW/Black with piano dash Cooper and it's on the ship now - supposed to be at dealer in a few weeks. Like your specs & I agree, Coopers don't get enough props - - - Mine's a 5 speed but I definitely considered the CVT with my commute.

Ive been driving automatics for the last 5 years straight. So Naturally my left foot wants to do all the braking. Have to wake the right foot up for the dance. Left foot will only be used now for stops and accelerating off the line. MIB is a standard 5 speed

I definitely felt the better build quality when driving both the '06 Cooper, and Cooper S. I love the feel of the three-spoke steering wheel.

When I get my production number, I'll join one of those production support groups

Just curious, with all this talk of where to put one's left foot, does anyone know if left foot braking is possible in the Mini? Or with the drive by wire will it not allow this?

DiD's pictures of the Piano Black dash are what sold me on it
