MCS gets Excellent Ownership Cost on Road and Track

--Cool new article on MCS long term, a 2003 MCS. The hydrolocking event sounds scary tho. 1 foot of water and our poor MINIs will be toast evidently. I'm putting galoshes on her when it rains.

The manual says that 1 foot is the max and to go through it at WALKING speed. They went through at the speed limit. You can't blame the car for failing.

One foot of water? Way cheaper to turn around and get to where you are going another way

I don't think being stupid is covered under the warrenty

Yea I totally agree with you all... who is stupid enough to go through a foot of water.. you do that with just about any car and it'll break.. I guess you can always fit a snorkel on the mini and it'd breathe. I'm still wondering what they were doing.. did they think the mini could catch fish?

why do you guys always get so defensive?

--There's no need to get defensive. No one's blaming anycar or anyone. Like you said 1 foot of water is the limit and ONLY at walking speed. Even the article didn't blame the car for it, they admitted it was a bad booboo and didn't even let it affect their rating of the car.

so RELAX people. It IS a worthy warning to MCS drivers. Not a blemish on our car's reputation. SHEESH!

how many times have we heard it; more than 6 inches water is not recommended to travel through with any vehicle and be completely safe. Unless you're going to get out and measure it with a ruler, you're better off not trying to negotiate it - EPSECIALLY with a low clearance vehicle like the MINI. It may look like 6 inches but could be washed away to far greater depths.

I laugh every time I see on the news some jackass who's tried to make through that flooded road beneath the overpass being pulled out of his or her car by rescue personnel.

something like this only proves that darwin was right, some people are just to stupid to drive and should be given an iq test before theyre allowed to even look at a car as nice as ours
