....on their Mini. If so, what kind did you get? do you like it? We have one on the minivan and love it. Just figured with the leatherette seating, it might be nice to cool down the car before I get in during summer months.

I seem to remember a thread about this before, but couldn't find it. the problem with this theory is that the MINI uses the smart keys that communicate with the car. The anti-theft feature keeps it from being started without the actual key in the ignition. I do believe, however, that someone had a very advanced version that actually stored the key in it or something to mimic the RF code from the key in order to remote start it.

nevermind, found the thread:

I bet your best solution is the remote window / sunroof openning. That helps to reduce the interior temperature.. Why waste the natural resource and your $$$.

I realize that this is an older post, but up untill this time I had'nt put a remote in a MINI yet. I just put one in my 06 MINI and it works just fine. Just so you know, I've put in over 2,000 remotes in the last 6yrs, so I know what a person has to do in order to get it to work (chipped key). Your engine imobiliser system stays the same as factory. It is somewhat difficult but no harder than any other system out there.
