Help! My Glove Box is STUCK.

Okay, I've had a blonde moment. I was hiding my little purse in the little glovebox of my little Mini this a.m. on my way into the gym. I noticed that a package of little AAA batteries had spilled in the glovebox but silly me, I didn't pick them up. Now I believe the little buggers are wedged into the hinge as the glove box will not open.

So I've pried at it a bit with a butter knife, but it refuses to open more than an inch. I don't want to break my brand new car, is there any way to disassemble the glove box? Time is of the essence, as my purse is in there.

I have a call into my local service department but I'm doubtful of a speedy response.

If anyone has any brilliant ideas (besides not overstuffing my glovebox), please respond to tracy@career-magic.com.

Thanks so much!
Tracy

Not long ago they had someone who dropped his cell phone down a heater vent (I believe in a MINI) and was trying to get it out. Amazing ingenuity surfaced - and a few feasible ideas....

Okay, so the old boyfriend came over and immediately opened it without breaking it, much to my chagrin. The latch is not latchin' nor is it attached, so I'll still have to pay a visit to my dealer, but not stranded without my purse!
