Was out motoring with another MINI on Saturday and his wife was looking at my MINI (the car) and she asked what the small round thing was on the rear bumper. I had no clue. It is a small round cover about the size of a quarter and is only on the right side of the bumper. Anyone have any insight?

It is for a tow hook. It opens and the tow hook screws in.
In your manual it is explained.

Now see If you can find the matching one on the front.
Then see If you can find the towing hook.

Pop it out, and there are threads (real ones not virtual) that allow you to insert the towhook.

Oh yeah there's even a little tool to help you pop it out with the hook.
There is also a Phillips and flatblade screwdriver. I don't know what these are for as everything seems to be Torx.

I've had my MINI a couple months and I only discovered those "mini tools" yesterday! It's in a cool little secret hiding place! I wondered about the screwdrivers too. Maybe it's yet another little thing MINI does to be thoughtful...kinda like dinging at us when it's getting colder (37 deg), having lights in the footwells, or letting us listen to the radio without a key in the ignition. It's the "mini" things...

I think it is kind of silly that they give me a jack for a car with no spare tire!

I have added what they should have included, and something that Land Rover used to include a long time ago with their vehicles: a foot pump!

You can get a great one for about $5 and not have to worry whether or not your compressor is going to work. My foot pump adds 1lb to a 17" runflat with about 15 pumps. not bad!
