I have 35% tint in my car. Autodim works just fine. If you're not sure just put a piece of tape over the two sensors and take a nighttime drive. Then pull the tape off and you'll see the difference. The Autodim mirror works great and is worth the price of admission.

WRT rain-sensing wipers, I think there are 2 available settings for the sensitivity. Change has to be done by the dealer, though.

After a lengthy call to my MINI dealer (90 miles away), we determined that DRLs probably were never activated on my car . So far, there's no other reason to make the trek to the dealer (more time inconvenience than anything) so for now, we'll motor without DRLs. The headlights still go on and off automatically but during the day there's no DRL.

Oh well. I just wish there were a way to enable the DRLs at home without requiring the dealer to do it... For that matter, I wish there were a way to enable/disable any of the other programming features myself.

Love-hate

The RSW are a love-hate relationship for me. I love the safety aspect of auto-adjusting to the amount of rain. I hate the fact that I have to reset the dang thing every time.

Mine is a last production month '05. I do have to reset the wipers each time. I usually leave them off, and turn them to auto when I need them. I am *very* satisfied with the performance of the system, though I could see how others may think that it is sometimes too slow.

The back wiper works on auto too - this was a pleasant suprise, as I thought that the back one would just be a standard wiper. Very cool...

As for those that don't notice a change in the auto dimming rear view mirror - this could be due to the nuetral 'tint' of the dimming - maybe it is dimming slightly and you are not noticing it? My wife's Pathfinder has an auto dimming mirror, but it goes to a weird greenish tint when it dims - I much prefer they way the Mini one works.

I was unsure on getting the $400 convenience package at first, but I am very satisfied with the purchase!

There is no rain sensor for the back wiper.

It works as follows:
In intermittent mode - or in rain-sense mode on so equipped cars - it will wipe every 10s (after the initial burst of wipes).
In switch-selected low or high speed mode, it will wipe once for every three wipes of the front.
