"Would you or wouldn't you" - your next MINI

I was thinking about my car and how much I enjoy it and what I'd do differently if I had the chance to buy another.

So here goes:
  • I like the 05 model year, so i'd stick with it
  • Xenons - keep em
  • Anthracite headliner - keep it
  • Fogs - keep em
I'd change:
  • Stripes - love the way they look, but I also like the way our cars look without them. I also don't want the stripes to cause uneven paint fading (which they will).
I'd add:
  • Rear fog - like the way it fills the back out, as well as the toggle board!
  • JCW package - I'd prolly talk myself out of it, but right now, sitting here at this computer, I'd buy it.
Completely undecided on:
  • Aero kit - I love how it makes my car look different than many of the MCSs on the road, but it was pricey, and I am sure i'd enjoy the car just as much without it.
Alright, what would you all do differently or keep the same????????

Hmmm - changes - depends on who's driving and how. . .

Current car: '04 MCS, DS/B, 6-speed, all 4 packages, leather, nav, etc.

On order: '05 MCSCa, all 4 packages, leather, nav. Didn't change much except for going topless and shiftless. Reasoning behind this is that my wife drives it 98% of the time, and she commutes in stop-n-go traffic, so the automatic makes sense for us.

I plan on ordering an '06, hopefully, with less options - I'm going for a hardtop MCS with 6-speed stick, LSD, cloth seats, no nav, fewer goodies. I'm looking to save some $$ and have a car I can take out for AutoX and track days, but still enjoy as a daily driver. I'd still keep the Xenons, heated seats, and fogs, debating on the H/K, and probably keep the sunroof since the droptop will spoil me for fresh air.

Ain't choosing your MINI goodies fun?!?

I'm comfortable with my current spec, except I want the antracite headliner. My dealer didn't tell me about it when I ordered the Black on Black, Antricite Interior MCS, and the pic/description on the Miniusa site sucks... If I could do it all again, the only thing different would be the headliner.

My list would look like this

I like the 05 model year, so i'd stick with it,too!
Xenons - keep em
Anthracite headliner - keep it
LSD- keeper

Changes:
  • I have vinyl, would consider heated cloth next time.
  • Have black on anthracite, would do chrome interior rings (guess I still can!)
  • I wouldn't order S-Lites, would try to get a 15's or something for winter / track use, figure I am going to buy aftermarket wheels anyway.
  • Could live without the sunroof... maybe, depends on the day...

Currently have an 04 LY MC with 16" 5 spokes, silver dash, white stripes, sunroof, and spoiler lip.

What i'd do different?

05 EB/W MCS with the webspokes, white stripes, clear tail lights, body colored dash, xenons, and sunroof... the mini i wanted in the first place

I just dont want to fork over the money for all that right now I should wait til i'm out of my parents house first

Dare to dream, UH!

Okay this may sound crazy put I would opt for a...

2006 MC (instead of a MCS)
All pepper white
Gray leatherette
Rear spoiler
Fog lights (front & rear)
Spoiler
Multi-function steering wheel (cruise & radio controls)
Rubber mats (gray front/rear & maybe boot)
Standard 7 hole/5 spoke wheels (already have nice OEM 15" 8 spoke wheels)
Antrachite trim, headliner
center arm rest

I would add after market...

Cold air intake
Computer Chip
High performance exhault
205/60/15 tires (Have these now & what a better ride! and it'll still corner!

What I don't want...

MCS model (I want a spare and I don't want it taking up space in the cabin)
No Climate control (isn't user-friendly enough)
No sunroof (don't need it)
No 6-speed (5-speed is plenty)
No sport seats (I don't think they're comfy enough to warrant the cost)
No leather (I've had an issue with the leather I have now)

I just built this car at MINI USA for $18,685. Add on the after-market performance stuff and it would be about $20,000.

A MC is nearly 150 lbs lighter than a MCS and with the aftermarket intake, chip and exhaust, it would be plenty quick for me. Plus the better mpg, and price, it just makes sense to me.
I would miss the cool look of the dual/center exhuast and hood schoop of the MCS.

Don't miss-understand me...I'm still in love with a car (02 MCS, dark silver/white, premium package, blue leather.

I reckon I'd go for a colour next time, as opposed to DS (which I still really like). I wouldn't get the cordoba interior either. I'd still mod it, so some of my options would be in anticipation of those mods. If I were speccing it again:

- HB/B MCS
- Aero Kit
- Anthracite R99's
- Anthracite headliner
- Satnav
- Sunroof
- Black Half Leather/cloth
- Driving/Aux lights
- Bluetooth
- Chrome mirror caps
- Chilli pack (in Oz, that's HK, MFSW, 17in wheels, LSD, Xenons, Climate control, Front and back Fogs etc.)
- JCW Intake.

Then I'd mod it:
15% pulley, MTH, tint, shorty antenna, brushed metal Whalen, colour-code the grille, arches & skirts, Eibachs, thicker rear sway bar, Add DVD and TV to the Satnav, front and rear strut braces, aftermarket adjustable bucket seats.

If I didn't get the R99's, I'd get some Antracite 18in Oz Superleggas.

If I happened to have money coming out of my ears at the time....
I'd get JCW front buckets, and the JCW kit (now that it includes brakes!) and CF everything....

....oh....to dream....

I might go for the new red, (forgot what it's called), but other than that I'd stick with my MC, Premium Pack, spoiler, fogs, MFSW and 16" five spokes.

Very pleased with my initial choices...which were made in part to keep the MSRP around $19,000 in 03'.

I was worried about maybe wanting a different color, but I'm happy with pepper white now that I've lived with it. But I would add the H/K sound, and maybe save up another month or two to get navigation. I got almost everything else the first time around so I wouldn't have regrets

I have a canadian spec 04 MCS with Xenons (standard).

I'd definately KEEP Xenons (no choice), keep heated seats, keep front and rear fogs, keep MFSW.

I would get NAVI, and tartan red/black leather seats. I will never get non perforated leatherette seats again. They are horrible. I would get LSD, and chrome line interior, and exterior as well.

It really is awesome how much choice, personality, and individualism is involved in purchasing and owning these cars.

What I'd order: S with xenons, Anthracite headliner and LSD.

I don't think I'd change anything except I'd consider getting an MC instead of MCS.

PW/B with H/K, computer, DSC, silver interior and space cloth.

Every once in a while I wish I'd gotten a different color. Since I always change my mind about what color I would get instead, I don't think I would ever actually get something else.

If I were to get a new one, I would have to find a way to keep my 04 tail lights, though!

Happy with every spec. I wouldn't change a thing. But would add only aftermarket items.

[QUOTE=mbcoops]I'd add:
  • Rear fog - like the way it fills the back out, as well as the toggle board!/QUOTE]
I've been looking at the after-market brake light designed to fit in the rear fog-light ('05s) position. Same reason- wanted to fill the back out. Of course, it doesn't add to the toggle board...

I keep forgetting things and having to edit

Parting with my 04 is going to be really hard... this car has brought me so much amazing stuff.... but sometimes you just have to go for it.

I recently sold my 03 BRG/B MCS and have an 06 BRG/B MCS on order.

I dropped the sunroof and added LSD and the anthracite headliner.

That's all I have changed.

I really like my current spec in my '05 MCS, which is essentially, a carbon copy of what my '04 MCS used to be:

CR/W
Union Jack roof Flag
exterior chrome pack
Harmon Kardon
Front and rear fog lights
Convenience Pack (Self dimming rear view mirror, auto wipers, auto headlights and Homelink programmable remote control buttons)
Leatherette seats
antharcite dash/door pulls
16" silver V-spokes
Trip Computer
Manual A/C
ASC+T
Halogen headlights
iPod MINI adaptor

That's it. I paid for my car $22,900 and believe I got an awesome deal. Car is fast and lightweight as I avoided big heavy wheels + tires, Xenons and the sunroof. No leather or cloth seats either.

Maybe for next time I will order the LSD. I din't order it this time around because I have no use for it. I don't race or autocross so I figured the $500 would be better spent in my savings account (addition to emergency funds)

I prefer the pre-05 interiors with the clock in the roof, two spoke MFSW etc, but I like the LSD and shorter ratios of the 05s. I'd still be happy to buy another MINI.

Current drive: 2004 IB/W MCS
Xenons
DSC
Climate
OEM driving lights
17x7 R90 replicas
Milltek cat-back
Eibach springs
ALTA CAI
(15% pulley etc to come)

Proposed new MINI: PW/PW
Anthracite interior/roof liner
Chilli pack
Sunroof
DSC
Eibach springs (or JCW suspension)
Black cobra stripes
Undecided on wheels R99s maybe
SatNav (budget permitting)
JCW from factory (budget permitting)

My wife and I are kinda thinking about this. We'll keep our current MINI, but we're almost seriously considering replacing her 2001 Subaru Outback with either a Mk5 GTI or another MCS. The smart thing for us to do would be to hang on the Subaru, but that's no fun!

I have an '02 MCS, and it doesn't appear to have any of the packages. No auto climate control, no sunroof, no Harmon Kardon, no chrome interior(before I installed a set), leatherette, Chili red with a white top.

The only thing I'd change would be to have Xenons. As for the back fogs, screw that. The "full bank" isn't worth what they'd charge, especially since I've got the wire mod done, so I essentially got the rear-fogs for $0.39.

Not a whole lot of fog in Florida to necessitate a switch for them.

I just like how the rear fogs look when I brake.
