I think it would be a service to “MINIUSA” if the members of 'MINICooperOnline" would give suggestions to improve the MINI to the manufacture. Thanks for your comments.

I agree with the above window comment, and also think that it should come with 5-point safety harness for both driver, passenger and cup holder, and while they are at it, the trunk, I have lost count of how many times any of the above have gone flying during serious motoring.

A useable oil dipstick on the s, a under bonnet light, a low fluid warning for the wipers (my pos 91 escort had this why not a car as cool as my mini).

I wish there was a light under the bonnet.

BTW CharlesWil - Great thread topic! I know we have all spouted ideas like this from one side of these boards to the other, but I can't remember another thread that tried to compile them into one central location. That is a real surprise to me!

Charles ,

Are you affiliated with MINI USA? Just curious.

I'd like to see a telescopic steering wheel,
a mechanical latch for the boot,
one touch CLOSE feature on the windows
a center console option with armrest and storage
a more dense mesh for the sunroof
bigger sunvisors/sunvisors that extend when in side window postion
dot matrix tint behind rear view mirror (see subaru)
a lockable glovebox
dead pedal on the same plane as the clutch.
Still working on my engine/trans/suspension list.

Other than that stuff...I love the car.

Paddel shifters on the steering wheel. chop the roof a bit. sliding rag top. 200HP. That should do it for me. I would pay good $ for a MINI with those options.

Why did you have to remind me I am over 50.
So I didn't look at the date. Get over it, I have.

DVLMINI,
Guy, I love Cars
My first love was a 1995 BMW M3 (Darker Yellow M3)
Second love 1997 BMW M3 (Darker Yellow M3)
My Third love was a 2003 MINI Cooper S (Black/White)
I still have the 1997 BMW M3 (Darker Yellow M3) It doesn’t get driven that much. Yes the MINI Cooper S is a wonderful automobile.

oh, chandler81, I'm old enought to be your Momma!

I want MINI to give me a Boot latch that opens with a Key!!!
I'd like to open the Boot with the Key! . . .
for battery problems or things stuck in the boot, I'd want to be able to open it with the key!!!

but after that, I want MINI to listen to these young people!
Give them what they want and I'll be standing behind them 100% !!!

I would like to see better cup holders. The only one that my thermal metal cup fits into is behind the seat. Anyone have experience with the folding aftermarket ones they are selling?

2003 pure silver MC-all packages, and more

I hope this one gets to the right engineer.
How about a front passenger OS bar. (OS stands for Oh SH#T!) My wife is getting whip lash! Oh. and if I'm going to be picky (which I am). Not one of those useless ones that are on the dash, but a good one over the side window that doesn't interfear with the airbags.

How about an entertainment center for the passengers in the back seat?

Actually, MINI USA called me after I picked up my S for a month straight, really. Every time they called, i was gone, and I finally did get to talk to them they asked what i liked about the car and what i didnt like. I went over most of the major problems (small cup holders blocked by the console comes to mind along with more power) They ended up sending me a spill proof MINI mug, and a ton of other stuff, dont konw how many others got those... but it was a very nice gesture, and it seems that they do listen a ton more than any other car maker. my 2 cents anyway.

I would like to see the interior painted plastic trim made more durable (coated with lacquer?) or go to an integrated color plastic, so that there is no paint to scratch or wash off with suntan lotion.

Armrest would be nice.

I want the full toggle switch rack, even if one of them does nothing, but it would be nice to be able to turn on the rear fog lights.

Less dusty brake pads would be great.

A "normal" oil filter would be nice.

Chrome grill and mirrors as options on Cooper S.

R90 Wheels available as a substitute, not as an addition.

Better cup holders.

Fix the sunroof rattle at the factory.

Option to have a solid cloth sunroof screen.

Extra gauges (oil, temp, etc) as a factory-installed option.

Painted sides and wheel arches as a factory option.

Work the car over for rattle elimination. Foam is cheap.

Darker tinted window option from factory.

Switchblade style key...would give a place to put yet another cool MINI logo.

I would like to have a larger windsheild reservoir from 2L to 4L and a light to tell you that you are low on fluid.

Here is a post I recently threw out titled INOVATIONS FOR 2004 MINI. Thoughtful discussion ensued!
