Great comment. I wished I had came up with it. When I picked up my MINI Cooper S, my dealer had over thirty MINI Coopers on the lot, but not a single MINI Cooper S. All the MINI Cooper S models were sold or on order. I hope MINIUSA takes notice and gives dealers allotments that reflect the demand for MINI Cooper S models. Great Suggestion.
Thanks

As every one probably is sick of hearing, I would like mini to have someone over 5'8" inches spend a week in their standard seat-- and then answer the question: were you sitting on you brains when you designed this and put it in such a great car? I am sure that the engineer that designed the standard seat had already accepted a position at VW, and this was his/her last decision on the way out-- and the standard seat was a great favor to MINI's competitors. After 5 months, that standard seat reminds me of, of all things, an onion-- yes, both bring tears to my eyes (sorry, I'm making a salad, ergo the food analogies-- guess it's lucky I'm not getting ready to take a shower-- analogies coulda been worse).
I would like mini to come out with a retrofit for the standard seat-- a retrofit that some person or persons have tested-- on human posteriors and lower backs-- and have found to be more comfortable, and that doesn't cost 3000 dollars. VW came out for one for the first bug, when owners complained about the standard seat, why can't mini?
The other major thing is a cushion between the front seats.

I don't get it.
I have a Cooper S with sport seats and leather with lumbar support. They are GREAT SEATS.
The sport seats cost only $270. Why not get them?

OK everyone - how come I don't see the one thing I think REALLY needs some serious improvement (for us in hot weather).

1. AN A/C that actually cools the car off in less than 45 minutes in the heat.
The A/C SUCKS in this car - worst I've ever had.

2. How about a RENTAL or LOANER when the service dept has to keep it overnight?????

I agree on most of the other stuff you guys are saying too.

Love my Mini though.

cigarette lighter in the trunk. Usable cup holders in the front more like the one in the console towards the back, option of getting non-runflats without a spair or flat fixer (AAA works better and saves weight). grey exterior plastic panelling painted body color as a factory option. MP3 port on the front of the dash or audio input. more sport sport seats bigger bolsters. Nav that doesn't take out one of the best designs in the car. A fake toggle in the place of the blank toggle on American cars. Ability to get all interior painted pieces exterior body color. optional color coded seat belts.

I think that is it. I love my car and think it is just about perfect accept for these few items.

Probably because you're not trying hard enough.

I'm sure there is a bureaucrat in Washington proposing legislation right now to ban "Killer Sunroofs." It's about saving the children!

MINI IMPROVEMENTS

Cup holders that work!!!

More storage areas..The open area under the toggle switches

More interior lighting..Map light, Put a set of lights up by sunroof switch aimed at each passanger

ARMREST with storage

More colors for the S with interior options (Provide the same colors as the copper with interior combinations

Offer same interior options as in UK.. Half leather /cloth with colors to match exterior. (Example black with RED inserts for seats

Light under bonnet

factory option to have body molding paionted the same color as body

Lockable glove box with organizer that you have to pay $29 for! .Need lockable glove box because I work in Detroit!

Have BMW/MINI change the "down to 0" msintance schedules to straight 10,000/ 25,000 changes to end end confusion and ill will of their customers.

FREE loner for 1 day warrenty/service repairs and not left to dealer's dicreation

More Mini dealers or let BMW dealers service!! (BIG DEAL #1 on list!!) 70 dealers is unexceptable (Some folks R 300 miles from a dealer but pass a couple of BMW dealers to get to their MINI shop..)

Key lock on hatch and a switchblade type key to replace the MONSTER key with the "tiny" slot that you cannot get 99% of key rings through..

Offer HK option as a "reasonable" price as an after maket option

Make sure that options for the new model year R put on all cars not phased during model years so early builds get rooked on these improvements,,example in 03 ..medal pedals vs rubber..DVD for NAV unit cd CD.. HK upgrade ect

Bring back the DC outlet in the boot that they discontinued in the 03

Put better seats from their parts bin from older bmw..The sport seats R a "pain in the butt/back" and do not provide side support..My old 96 Caravan had better seats to "hold " u in the seat.

Most of all IMPROVE dealer service where my dealer argues with me about items that need to be fixed..problems..Have all service folks be retained in a Saturn customer service mold..(Saturns r so-so cars but their customer service at the dealer is rated near the top year after year)..Treat MINI owners like BMW customer loners for the day ect, not like 2nd class folks because as my service manager told me " What do you expect, you only bought a 20K car!!!)..

all I can think of ,,have to take my medication now

Gas2Hi
I think you missed one. Make the center button on the left side of multifunction steering wheel do something! It probably does if you have navigation system, but I don’t.

NOPE. Button does nothing even when you have the NAV.

most of the stuff already mentioned:
- light under bonnet ( i love being able to say bonnet and boot now!)
- useable front cuphodlers, or at least, allow them to swivle to the side allowing for
bigger cups, like newer VW bugs did to solve same problem
- armrest, matching perfectly so i don't have to spend over $100 (which i swear is
some sort of deal with MINI and aftermarket dealers!)
- console under FULL set of switches (again so i don't spend $30 more)
- lockable glovebox
- remote-opened hatch
- flip-style key

some others:
- openable rear sunroof
- openable rear windwos/hatch window ( i like airflow)
- dark silver as color option for cooper
- have the space where side mirror adjustments is open up to put loose change
- LARGER rear view mirror, can't see much back there
- special-orders given priority in production, like maybe, made same week you
order! delivered in 2 weeks, total waiting time a month! (hey, it WOULD be nice!)
- a "one free accessory with purchase" deal (that would be pretty sweet)

most of this stuff is pretty trivial, ill still love this car dearly in spite of the minors..

are we there yet,
ryan w

I'd love to see an Arizona version with tinted windows, leather shift ****, solid sunroof screen, sun visors that actually work...of course the standard better cupholders, arm rests, less plastic and rattles, lose the awful runflats, an MCS without the hood scoop (unfortunately not possible), chrome choices for the MCS, a spare tire for the MCS (unfortunately not possible) and a better service department at North Scottsdale Mini which is atrocious...

About the power windows - What some people are complaining about in Washington is that children left unattended in cars are leaning out the window and bumping the window button with their knee or hand while trying to gain leverage. Since power windows got introduced there have supposedly been 44 deaths blamed on power windows. Personally, I think it's a big pile of horse sh*t, but it gives the liberals an issue to complain about. The convertable came back after a, what, 5 year? hiadus, so maybe power-up windows will come back in the '07 model Cooper!

Jeremy....do you have the sunroof? I do and at first I thought something was wrong with the AC...took forever to cool off the car in summer in Ariz...then it dawned on me it was the incredible heat build up through the sunroof even with the mesh screen closed. It dawned on me after scorching my hand on the chrome shift ****, laugh...I resorted to making my own custom sun screens that fit between the sunroof and mesh screen in both the front and back....huge difference as the AC actually then worked ok....tinting the windows also helped...the mesh screen was an oversight for warmer climates...........also wished they would have designed some decent sport seats with longer seat bottoms and a better seat angle, I can't stay in the seat for more than an hour without getting out to stretch, but I have long legs at 6'2"...never had that problem in bimmers before but they were recaros...

>>You can ask, but you will not receive. This isn't something that MINI can do anything about. Your maternal Federal government has mandated that you aren't mature enough to handle having windows that close automatically. You'll cut your arm off!

The odd thing is: MINI leant me a BMW 325i while they were working on Holly and guess what? Automatic one touch close on the windows.

Unfortunately, they cost $270 when added as an option. If you try to add them after the car arrives they're well on the far side of $1200 - for one.

I'd like to have a neutral position for the left and right mirror adjustment. If I accidently touch the adjustment device one of the mirrors will move.

OK, here's one (I'm not sure if this has come up already)...

REDESIGN the door pockets (inside the elipse) so that when you're foolish enough to put something in there you can a) get it back out; b) things don't slide around in there.

The sliding problem would be solved by lining the bottom of the pocket with a slightly rubbery material. The "getting things out" problem will require significant re-design of the elipse/door pull/"arm rest." I've found that CD cases are absolutely the worst. It's like a one-way box magic trick...and DEFINITELY don't try to remove something while driving as it's just about impossible without using 2 hands. (and I'm left handed...so I'd think I'd be more coordianated trying to manipulate things in the driver's door pocket than most right-handed drivers of US-spec cars).

Once again, form triumphs over function in the MINI

To expand on this, I would LOVE for an in-car refilling portal. Something where I can sit in my car, and fill that baby up from the inside without having to get out in the freezing weather and pop open the hood.

I'd be happy with just two things...functioning cup holders...and the ability to get a full set of toggles. I mean, it sounds like no one in the US gets the rear fog light toggle. And without DSC, no toggle there either. There should be a way to control alternate power outlets, or even a garage door opener, or something!
BTW...I had rattles coming from my rear seat latches (especially noticable on side streets at lower speeds)...fixed them myself. Hard part was tracking down the source of the rattle. One MINI mechanic swore it was the rear hatch...it wasn't.

After a week of ownership, I'll chime in:

visors that actually vise.
digital readout of audio volume (if I'm at 9 I'd like to know about it)
AM/FM toggle for MFSW
grab handle for passenger and back seat entry/exit
variable wiper speed
Mini chewing gum to fix the rattles and buzzes
car care kit
first aid kit

light under bonnet
i like the compass idea
better storage hoo-hahs

I'm not complaining.
