i had gotten my first MINI when i was about 16 and 1 month (had it for 3 days, there were some issues with it we werent told about, luckly we were able to return it to carmax and get our money back) then about a month later i got the one i have now, and im currently 17 and will be 18 in Dec.

 

HAHA...I was 14 when I got my first MINI, it was a chile red justacooper, and I begged my parents for something faster so on my 15th birthday they got me a cooper S.... So with that said I have owned 2 MINI's in my life and I wouldnt trade it for the world!!!!

 

Just bought one for my daughter for her 16th birthday in a month.

Send her to driving school, not just driver's ed but real - High Performance driving school.

Check with your local BMW Car club as they might be sponsoring an event each year specifically targeted to teens that drive (parents also invited).

Is it a CVT or 5 speed manual?

VR MC is very nice indeed. That color is long gone and unique.

I'm a past president of the River City Bimmers, local chapter of the BMW CCA in Memphis... as well as a veteran of about 20 BMWCCA and PCA driving schools and the BMWCCA Instructors School ('86 528i and '94 325is, both heavily modded)... very familiar with their weekend courses and a big believer in them... but you have to be 18 to participate here. She will in a couple of years, meanwhile, I'm teaching her all I know.

 

Her's is the CVT.... still a pretty peppy little car for a 16 year old girl.

Got her the British license plate for the front, her initials and birth year... ECL 1992.... ordered it from licenseplates.tv which I found on this site.... looks great on the front of Nigel, which she's already named him.

 

P.S. I like my daughter's CVT so much, I'm looking for an S model for myself... these are pretty neat little cars... anybody want to trade an '05 Chrysler Crossfire (24K miles, automatic +tiptronic, white, hardtop) for a similarly-priced S model?
