well im speaking more twords the 16-18 crowd, and if you honestly earned it all yourself then more power to you i just know it is hard to appreciate the greatness of the mini until you driven around in a POS for a while
I don't know about that... I appreciate my MINI more than the other 2 cars I owned, and I appreciate it more than my friends BMW. I think its the amount of respect you have for the car itself, if it's just a car to you, then that is how you see it. Even to those that have had "better" cars, they appreciate the MINI for its uniqueness.

No kidding! Getting back in my Alero for a day after driving the new MINI for a couple weeks was awful! I parked it after that and vowed to only drive Lewis if I had a choice. Even made my brother come pick it up so I wouldn't have to drive across the state with it.
The young'uns will really appreciate the MINI when they have to borrow a truck to move out of mom's house.
I got mine when I was 17, im now 18. I have the R50, would of got the S, however insurance companies over here in Australia wont permit you to get a car with that much power until im 21 (or 25, I forgot). Either way ill keep mine, I love it.

oh my god. seriously?!
i think we need to adopt that same idea. i really wouldnt mind seeing a bunch of spoiled kids driving something they can handle rather than brand new STis and Evos
In australia we have P plates, meaning after you get your license you have to display a white plate with a red P on it on the front and rear of your vehicle. New P plate drivers as of july 2007 were restricted to what they could drive. Eg, for the time you are on P plates you can not have a turbocharger, supercharger, or have more than 200 kw of power.

I got my very first Mini at age 19. It was a '73 Austin Mini 1000 project car. I worked all summer long at Six Flags just to get one. I quit as soon as I had enough to purchase the car. Didn't even give 2wks notice. It was the first manual trans car I'd ever driven and it was RHD too.
I'll be 24 in June and I currently own an '06 MINI Cooper SR.
damn, im 31 and i only know two people younger than me with one. 24 and 30. everyone else has multiple minis or owns houses, etc. actual adults (aren't I one too? who knows! :P )
I took my license test in a BRG '05 MC Cabrio, which became my first car when I was 16. I'm now 19 and in college, and I drive an Indi Blue '04 MCS. So I've been driving MINIs since day one, really... and lovin' it!
