R50/53 The woes of custom work and service.
The woes of custom work and service.
So here is a letter that I just sent out.
I was in Nashville in July to have some service done to my 2004 Mini Cooper S. I had several things fixed. One of the jobs was to replace window motors. They both had to be replaced. The motors were replaced, but when the technician was reassembling the doors, he broke clips on both tweeter covers. I tried to have them replaced by the service manager, but he refused to replace them back to the condition they were in. The tweeter covers had been painted Indi Blue. He stated that even though his technician broke the part, they had no responsibility to replace the item to the way it was. He went on to compare it to a situation where a window motor damaged a window and the tint on the window. They would replace the window but not the tint. That's fine. The technician did not damage anything. In this case, the technician damaged the part, and the part should then be restored back as it was. Painted and unbroken.
Thank you for your assistance in this.
so beware of what dealers may try to do. I post any results that I get.

I would make more sense and give you better leverage if you get an estimated cost to paint the cover and forward it to the dealer. Time and Materials. They cant deny that. Well they could, but they would just turn out looking like jerks.
