R50/53 Got my Mini!
I finally picked up my Mini yesterday, yay!
It´s everything I expected. chili red, white roof, bonnet stripes. only thing missing are the white rims, which I love but I´m thinking about all the work it will be keeping them clean.
His official name is Mr. Bean, after my brother started joking me I would look like Mr. Bean driving this car.
Will post some pictures during the weekend. For all people still waiting for their cars, my first impression is: worth the wait, it´s a very special car.
By the way, my dealer told me I have to warm up the car in the morning, which sound weird, since I thought new cars don´t need to be warmed (computer and fuel injection take care of it right?) Should I do it? Weather in Mexico City is really mild, gets between low 40s in the morning to 70s at noon.
How about driving the first 1000 miles? I was also told to not speed over 55 and not rev the engine over 4000. (Also thought new cars don´t need this anymore because the engines are run at the assembly plant).
Thanks everybody

>>Congratulations and enjoy...55....too slow, just TRY not to let the revs go above 4500 rpm for the first 1200 miles. It's gonna happen though...use some self-restraint.
Motor on!
under 4500 rpm for the first 1200 miles....HA......I guess I blew that one
mexminime.......congratulations, good luck

It´s been difficult to keep the car low on the revs these two days, believe me!
My other car is a civic, which loves to rev up to 6500 all the time, so you can imagine I´m so used to reving that I have to hold myself, but I guess it´s worth it taking the extra care to ensure long term enjoyment of the car.
Today Mr. Bean had to stay at home because in Mexico City new cars without license plates cannot be driven on fridays until you get the plates and the smoke test. (really silly, but these are the smog laws)

I too picked up my new MINI yesterday. It is so exciting- I have not felt this way about a car since I got my first beetle in 1965. And there I go dating myself. I have been a regular reader of this forum, and it is great to now be a part of the group.
