Does anybody have any experience with mounting a longboard (9'6") on a roof rack on a Mini? Are the Yakima racks spread far enough apart? Is the factory rack a lot of $? Do the racks make a great deal of wind noise? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

 

The yakima rack that uses Q-towers can be used. I have a 7'5" surfboard and it works. You can move the rear rack farther back to adapt for a longer board.

I have the same delimma.

 

is rated at 75lbs. I carry 2 mtn bikes. As for the bar spread the instructions list it for 25", but you could always call the mfr and ask. As for the cost of the factory rack I think you should either look on the miniusa site yourself or call. My racks make very little noise, but I have the wind deflector(and noise varys from car to car).

My other thoughts are that it would have been faster and more informative had you just called the manufacturer of Yakima and miniusa for your answers.
