R50/53 Obsession Beyond Belief
what's wrong with me then?
ok - so what's my problem then? i have had my mini for over a year now and still love to visit the dealership (get excited when oil change time comes around) just to look at all the mini's - i always wait while my mini is being serviced just so i have time to look around........i just can't get enough of them - and oh boy - the dragon trip - i'm not sure if it was because of all the mini's or the dragon itself but that was the best!
I've actually told friends, when I was once cleaning up my MINI, that I was doing so because I was going by the dealer to visit it's sibs. They rolled their eyes as usual. Doesn't bother me one bit....they should be used to this by now.

Pretty Normal indeed!!! Everyone gets it bad sometimes even worse when they order there mini and there is the wait ahead. Luckly I only had to wait from nov 6th till dec 20 to get my mini but It came in on a friday so I had to wait till Monday to get her. I went up to the dealer 35 miles away at 3am b/c I couldn't sleep, the big day before, just to see If I could see my car in the back with about 30 other sleeping mini's which is what I should have been doing. To add I was in pj shorts and a t-shirt in 30 digree weather. It was bad!!!!! But one of the best days of my life the next day when I waited 4 hrs to get my baby and was 2 and a half hrs late for work. But My boss under stood as one of the Supervisors has a mini herself!! lol Good luck with the wait and don't feel bad for going up there every weekend and driving a mini. I'm sure the dealer won't mind at all.

miniaholic?
like the OP, I have to wait many months before I even order. (8-10 months) (to pay off all my credit cards before I take on a new debt.). But here I am. Researching, reading, and OBSESSED with getting a mini for ME. I have never drove a new car, this will be my first.
I am learning so much here. ANY problem I have (if i have any) I will check here first. No problems that I have read about sway my opinion. ALL you guys are so helpful. I can't wait to test drive. I am chicken to go to a dealer now. I want to pay off my credit cards first.
I am sure over the next few months I will ask a lot of dumb questions so I apoligize ahead of time.
this is my first post.
cheers.

I don't know if it's the looks, the diminuative size, the performance, the driveability, the heritage, the vibe...or all the above, but you can really fall head-over-heels in love w/ a MINI and somehow it all seems quite logical. Motoring everyday doesn't help...it simply sends one even more over the edge (so dont' expect any improvement once your MINI arrives). I personally risk public ridicule constantly for my careful (and very public) detailing regimen, but in the end, all my neighbors and fellow commuters do is smile and say, "I love your car" or even, "I had to get a (insert name of more mundane vehicle) but I really wanted a MINI like yours!" Really...I'm not kidding!!! I don't think this level of insanity has filtered to the automotive press yet...they're still stuck on 0-60 times and less relevant drivel like that (my opinion
). If this kind of behavior is really what's going on w/ most MINI owners, maybe we do have a cult car on our hands!!
btw, they're just as bonkers over on MINI2...I've checked.
Oh, and welcome aboard, pearface!!!!

This is about as bad as it gets.
I was motoring home tonight, after dark, the bugs were so bad I could hear them hitting the windsheild. At first I thought it was raining, so I turned on the wipers,SMEAR, BLINDED,
Wiper fluid could hardly keep up, xenons were fading.
I had to stop and refill the washer fluid. Not easy to do in the dark, flashlight in mouth, while swatting mosquitos
I then got into the small town close to where I live to pick up some beer.
Well the WHOLE front of the car is caked in bugs.
I got home, soaked the car in water, layed some towels on it, soaked them, while swatting off more of the blood suckers. Have a huge clean up in the morning
Never seen that before, but no way my truck would get soaked towels laid on it to keep the bug guts soft till morning.
Will post more in the detailing thread.

Its all OK
Not to worry...its all ok - trust me
Three years on (02 MCS) and I'm still visiting my dealership at night with an ice-cream in hand trying catch a glimpse of something different. My fiancee understands that I need to be a rubber-neck as we drive by a Mini dealership. She also knows that a smile is guaranteed from me whenever a Mini is within line-of-sight
The one aspect which always seems to amuse me are my friends bewilderment of my unwavering passion for the Mini. Actually, even I am amazed, because when you rationalise the situation, its only really a car...NOT
Keep on Motoring

mini butterflys
I spotted a mini on the way to work today heading in the same direction. I was grinning like a schoolgirl who spotted her crush. When the mini changed lanes next to me, I got butterflies in my stomach.
I swear I am not exaggerating.
