These clowns went to William and Mary with me, and at the time were called Grandma Dynamite.
The first time I ever saw them play was at Freshman Orientation, and they played a set of relatively slowish alterna-songs. At the end, the lead singer said, "We're gonna play our 'thrash' song now, for all you headbangers." They played "Jane Says", by Jane's Addiction. WTF?
Then, a couple of years later, after they'd graduated, they moved to Florida and claimed to be a Florida band. Yeah, right. But they had a song on their first album that directly talked about one of the guys at William and Mary. I don't recall the name of the song, but it's about an awkward guy who they felt they had never given a proper chance, and they felt really bad about it. Puh-lease. The guy was a freak. Actually, I think it was called "Freak". He would randomly verbally attack the women on campus, yet had a shoebox full of condoms that he thought would only last him one semester. I wish I had a picture of the dude. We called him Erkel.
Anyway, the band has no credibility, in my book. They actively deny where they got their start, and they were just mimicking all of the local music at the time.
I would agree that they are, indeed, cumbersome to this world.
(of course, it didn't help that the biggest trollop on campus was a huge fan)

Seven Mary Three?!?!
That's scary!!! I can't stand that song and any band that ripped off Pearl Jam's sound (I can't stand Pearl Jam, either, for that matter). Too bad that sound has flourished with bands like Staind, Creed, and Puddle of Mudd. I can't understand why anyone would like their songs. They all sound like funeral dirges to me and the lead singer always sounds like a pompous @ss.
Rock is supposed to be fun (and on that rare occassion - insightful). I'll be blasting the Replacements "Pleased To MEet Me" CD at full blast when I leave work today. That's rock and roll!!!!
