Absolutely, however there is a difference between responsive power and torque monster. Look at the new Corvette, great car, fast, but still not good handling like a Porsche (I know a Carrera 2 would smoke a new corvette at any twisty at any given day). See the thing is, we do not have big twisty roads, highways, all we need is a lot of muscle, and nothing is wrong with that.

Why not??? .... Do you know how many Carrera 4S owners there are in my town that dont know how to drive???

Actually, there are more 911 Turbos than C4S around here (turbos are better by the way), and most of the drivers are clueless, and it wouldnt surprise me if they have never taken the car over 75. The wannabes that have are either not above ground anymore, or paying some bodyshop on Santa Monica Blvd a chunk of change.

The porsche 911 is a magnet for guys who cant get chics the normal way, and for guys that cant drive.

If you want, you can come on a ridealong in Camel, and I can show you what I mean.

All about the numbers? Uh, okay. . .

How about looking at more than displacement, maybe at, say, horsepower or power/weight ratio. . .then let's talk gearing, transmission, final drive, etc.

Hell, I not only kept up with a 5.7L Corvette with a 2.0L Mistubishi, I pulled him by about 3 car lengths to about 80+ before I backed off. Of course, it was an older Vette, probably in the 165-180 HP era, and I had a 2.0 Turbo putting out 210 HP, in a lighter car. . .

It's all about the numbers, yep.

I used to work at Schlumberger Geco-Prakla doing seismic exploration, as a field engineer. We used airboats that run 350 (the slow small airboats) and the 454s that were running strait pipes out of the engine. So I know what a V8 sounds like when it is running WOT. This guy was trying, trying hard. I was listening to my engine and his engine run into the high RPMs. I fully expected him to go into hyperspace at any second with all the ponies that he had under his hood. But it was amazing to see him struggle at third. Anyway, I am pretty sure it was the V8, if anything by the sound of the engine at idle. You know the sound that a V8 makes that is so unique.

You've obviously not got any seat time in a Z06.

I am in, always ready

You know, it is hard to believe, but I don't think impossible. The comment about the Porsche owners is very true. Have not seen a straight one, yet, pretty sure there are guys out there buying Porsches because they are car guys, not for status or to impress chicks. See this is the point, most of Mini owners are car guys, right?

when you are talking about a Z06, that is Porsche Turbo territory, and you know as well as I do, not EVEN CLOSE....

Here we go again with the "mini's are the fastest"....

the Carrera 4S story was rediculous, but a turbo!

lets get something straight:

if a mini and a 911 turbo were to race, as long as the person knows how to shift... Forget about it, this is rediculous!

I have a 400 lb, 1.0L 150HP, 71 ft lbs, vehicle that no MINI could ever touch, even twincharged. Straight line, twisties, doesn't matter!

I love these bedtime stories. I tell my MINI them everytime I tuck it into bed.

I thought I had one of the fastest cars around. It was a TR6 with a small block chevy. Trans was a 4sp muncie. I suspect the V8 was close to the same weight as the limy 6, maybe a bit more. Power, a lot more. I would smoke just about everything. One night a bmw2002 tested me and I failed. I bet that thing was tuned, modified, whatever, it was quick. I on the other hand had the flu, ok maybe not, but it still got the jump on me.

It's all numbers...

Driver, car and tune!

A screaming mini at redline can burn just over 400 CFM of air. That's about a stock 5 litre with wheeziing heads..

There are only so many 02 molecules tu burn....

I am so glad you asked matthewz. Here we go:

Split Air Intake
I invented this modification for the MCS. I am working with a vendor to integrate this with other mods. Have you ever notice that the intercooler is smaller than the opening on the hood for it? Well, SAI takes advantage of this. The thread for this mod is below:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=39082

Ryephix #2+VGS!
Ryan develop the Ryephix #1 and Ryephix #2. I first installed the Ryephix #2- Great. Never had any Yo-Yo, did it only for performance. When I installed my OBX header, it was also great. I finally installed the Remus exhaust - more gains on the high end, but lost some torque on the low end. Andy developed the VGS that is a different approach to do what Ryephix 1 and 2 do. I did it and now I am the only person that I know that has both mods in the same car. Both mods at the same time gave me back the torque that I had lost with the Remus. This torque loss is not associated only to the REMUS but to any catback. So, Ryephix#2+VGS means that I have both mods at the same time. The result is not Ryephix #1, I get 25mpg in the city. I am assuming you might have read some of the threads on these mods. If not, you have to read these:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=32276
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=20115
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=38268

Alum-Tape Mod
The stock air intake takes air from the area above the radiator. To keep the air moving from left to right and force the air to enter the opening that takes the air to the air filter element, there is a rubber seal on top of the radiator area, that seals with the hood. But, the hood has four holes that let this air escape and go to neverland inside the hood. Result, you loose pressure that would get more air to the air filter. Fix, close the four holes with duck tape or aluminum tape.

lightinsight
This is a must for the MINI. It allows you to see the traffic light without having to get close to the windshield. You need this.

One more mod:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=45620

I hope any and all of these help you.

I am wondering about your comment. I do not visit MINI Talk very often, so maybe I am missing something. I am only sharing an interesting experience...

...I have a small issue with traction too...no drag starts for me...too hard on the driveline anyway. That said, I'm more than happy to dance with any V8s or bikes from 60...when it's just the two of us in sight, of course The bikes are especially amazed

So, what would be your take off method? Drop from 6 to 4th? Or are you already at 4th? Just wondering....

PS. I just noticed you NOS system in the pictures in your gallery. That explains a lot and the comment of "from 60..."

Honestly, I never challenge anyone and stay out of the left lane as much as possible. They could race me off the line 200 times and I'll just smile and drive like I'm in an electric car. Unless someone's shooting at me, I'm not interested in attracting cops and endangering myself/others in a street drag race (Woodward Dream Cruise is an exeption LOL). So I'm usually in 5th crusing the speed limit of around 70-75 on a freeway when things do happen. When I get challenged...usually blip down to 4th/4500rpm, arm N2O then wait:smile:

I smell a thread shut down any minutes now
