I,I,I,I.....KEEP THE WINGS FACING ME! Whew! That wasn't easy to get out......but thanks to this thread I can now readily see that there are Mini owners as sick as, and even sicker than me.

Come to think of it.... I never really answered this thread honestly.... I keep the wings down, towards my thigh. That is very important. I once corrected someone who put the key the other way round.

... I have had 1 too many drinks tonight, so I would like to take this oppurtunity to tell everyone how much I love my Camel. Camel... I love you.
And if anyone feels the urge to challenge me and my Camel in any shape or form, come and get it. This is one car that I can honestly say I dont mind dying in. /hugs Camel.

Ok, the wings face me. I can pretend that this happens because I use my thumb on the unlock button. So far no one has confessed to waxing/Zainoing their license plate. Does anyone take off their plate so they can wax underneath? Obviously, I’ve thought about it. So far I’ve resisted the call.

I've removed my plate a couple times to clean behind it. It gets assnasty underneath. Worst of all, it's filled with sand and other particles that the plate hlder grinds into the paint when the hatch is slammed. If you really want to see some nastiness, remove the piece of trim along the bottom of the hatch glass. (it just pulls off straight back). A huge pile of dirt accumulates under it and stays wet for periods of time after rain. I knew something was up when I found that I was getting a dirty streak running down from the molding after washing the car. Yeck.

Arg, I knew I should have pulled that plate! It is too late the wash the car tonight. I’ll just have to go apologize to Jal and wash him tomorrow.

At the risk of going OT, ICK! Discovered that at the last waxing, and had to think "what were they thinking placing that dirt catching trim on the back hatch of a dirt catching design. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed!

BOTSO (Back On Topic, Sort Of)
Camel, you da MAN (or beast, whatever:smile: ) THAT is the ultimate keyring holder.
We have a shelf for our keys. A friend recently came to stay over a few days. I left all the other keys (2 miatae, scooby wagon, CRX) and hid the MINI key.
I have a car addiction. And a wheel addiction. I currently have four sets of wheels for the MINI. Shhh! Don't tell the wife!
Like Camel, I've had a few, and I love my cars. And my wheels. All of them. I'm a bigamist (multamist?)!

OK...OK... I admit I keep the wings facing me and yes, make a point of it, but I haven't restarted the car yet to flip the key over or if I did I'm blocking the memory of the whole trip with the key in wrong.

So on the **** scale of 1 to 100 that puts me at 99.

Wait a minute... I don't realign my vents every time, just every seasonally... deduct 1 point.
I don't have Bobbi... deduct 25 points
I do only have the MINI key on it's own fob, but it does go in my pocket with other items... net zero.

73...

Whew... not as bad as I thought of myself.

OK... I see a test coming with points assigned to every little MINIism we have and we'll find out who is the Top Bulldog!

Do you keep your key wings up in the ignition? 1 point
Do you rotate your key insertion to even the wear? 1 point
Do you drive yourself crazy with key up vs key rotation? 2 points
Do you wax your license plate? 1 point
Do you have a Bobbi by your front door? 25 points
Do you put your key in your pocket with no other items? 1 point
Do you clean your rims every stop? 15 points (paying your son counts )
- every day 10 points
- every week 5 points
Do you align your vents every day? 1 point?
Do you rotate your oil filler cap to read ok when hood is open? 1 point
Clean your exhaust tips daily? 5 points
Rinse/dust the boot door before parking at home? 5 points
Use a car cover in the garage? 2 points
Slow down for wet spots in the road to avoid getting your boot wet? 3 points

The test needs more points...

Until now I'd never thought twice about which way the key faces One more thing to add to the ritual

OK, I admit it: I have Zaino'd the plate. And, you should too. It makes it stay cleaner and easier to clean.
