Hi Guys, please excuse my ignorance, I've only had my MCS for 3 months now and I have some questions about the 6 speed Getrag gearbox.

1: I was told that the gearbox in the MCS is the same gearbox used in the BMW M3, is this true?
2: There's alot of rave on about this gearbox, what makes it so special.

I must admit I feel like a bit of a goose asking these questions about my pride and joy, but my previous reasons to fall asleep at the wheel were a Mazda 626, Holden Commodore and a Honda Accord. Generally one doesn't care what brand of fuel you use in a car like this let alone what type of gearbox you have. In my MINI though, I now find myslef chosing even the water I put in my windscreen washers carefully....should I choose Evian? I don't know if it's pure enough. "Excuse me, Miss..have you got any bottled water that's more pure than Evian? Perhaps something bottled by Budhist Monks from the Himilayan Mountains?"

 

A1 MCS = front drive, M3 = rear drive. Same transmission = impossible.
A2 Getrag

 

... the case is different but the guts are the same design.

also, how do you pernounce the word GETRAG? In a new PT turbo commercial i could have swore i heard it there as well "GET RAAG" they said..
