I bought Buttercup through Prestige MINI in Mahwah, NJ--then promptly drove her home to Seattle!

I thought I was on the waiting list for the only dealer in WA, then I found out they were delaying already placed orders and never told me that I had to put down a deposit to be on the "official" waiting list.

Since I didn't want to wait the 12 months, I sent e-mail to every MINI dealership I could find. Jim at Prestige called me back within 20 minutes of sending the message and I placed my order! No markup, no mandatory extras and everyone at the dealership thanked me for coming all that way.

The money we spent on the trip (about $500) was less than having the car shipped or the markup Northwest MINI is charging.

I beginning to shop around and have been really shocked at some of the mark ups--Assael BMW in Arcadia is marking up all models (that I've looked at) $6,000! Calling it "Market Adjustment". I will definitely check out other dealers--even out of state if necessary.

Hi,

I live in Los Altos and ordered my MCS on March 3 from International Mini in Milwaukee at MSRP. Build date was March 21. Delivery was April 24. Drove home via Denver, over the Rockies, across Utah and Nevada on US 50, then over the Sierras on 88.

I bought my MINI form Long Beach MINI-with no mark up. I was on the "list" for 8 months. If your not picky (S or CVT), I would visit their website, then give Tony or Matt a ring. Last I heard was that you paid an extra shipping cost of $200-$400 for the MINI's that were shipped form the East Coast. They remainder of the '02's were actually a few hunderd $$$ BELOW retail.

International MINI in West Allis (Milwaukee), Wisconsin is selling at MSRP. Ordered mine (they had many on the lot to choose from and I could have drove one home that day, but they were not to my particular liking - I'm fussy!) late March and will have it in 2 weeks (2 month wait at MSRP ain't bad)!

>>hi gotnomini welcome to the board. where do you live.. call brian harris mini in baton rouge la. 225-754-1200 ask for meredith.they sell their mini at msrp

I second this one. Haven't picked up mine yet, but confirmed with the "payment guy" at Brian Harris last week. He gave me the full price with TTL, no markup, no dealer add-ons. Just MSRP. They do try to sell you the extended warranty, but just say no.

Actually East Bay Mini in Pleasanton, California is selling all of their Minis at MSRP. I got my MCS in April and they were and have been very good to deal with. I have sent several people their way because the other dealers in the area are charging a mark-up.

I was willing to wait, but I wasn't willing to pay the mark-up. I don't know what the wait is now, but it took about 6 mos. to get mine. Just enough time for me to save up enough to pay for it!

Called Long Beach MINI on February 21st to get on the list to order a MC @ MSRP. They told me to call back monthly to "check in." Called monthly, and received a production number on April 28th. Expecting delivery in July. No problems so far. I live 2 hours away and was willing to wait to avoid the $2K add on package (Permaplate, Lo-Jack, etc.) my local dealer requires. My local dealer is about 15 miles away. I told them I was going to order from Long Beach and gave them the chance to match their deal, but they wouldn't do it. :???:

Re: " I really like the Mini, but my kids will want to go to college someday."

I agree that $4,000 over is a bit selfish on the part of the dealer. However, as a buyer we're all sort of stuck with putting up with what our local dealer asks or (1) driving a LONG ways to another dealer or (2) Not getting a Mini at all.

OK...now regarding your kids going to college?
