Great, so you're eating all the fuel to lug around a 6000 pound vehicle while getting to the supermarket. It's not only about price. People with H2 always seem to mention price. About being able to afford the car and the gas, but maybe some people just find it dumb to be wasteful.

As for safety, these cars SEVERLY limit the vision of every other vehicle on the road. And if you were to get in an accident with a smaller car, maybe an economy one that doesn't have side airbags, you'd be crushing them. Also in any emergency situation, you wouldn't be able to move quickly enough to get out of the way. This isn't a problem off-road where it is meant to be, but driving on the street and highway is just outright dangerous to others.

For me, the H2 is the ultimate symbol for "I only care about myself." and the the person doesn't care about the environment or the safety of others. they only care that this car looks cool.
We're all allowed our opinions. I use my hummer off road a lot. I agree that there are a lot of big vehicles on road. The Ford F150 is just as big! Why don't we see some slams on this vehicle. The real isn't thing to note is you see many make the "wasteful comment" yet own a motor boat instead of a sailboat - the motor boat uses as much or more than a hummer. Where are these slams. We all have the right to drive what we want, hence the reason I have a mini excellent fun car and a hummer for off-road. Safety against the young, inexperienced drivers who have cell phones glued to their ears is also another reason. Most have never taken gone to a driving school and have no idea how long it takes to stop their vehicle at 30-40-50 mph. There are more risks on the road than those who drive hummers.

A lot of other SUV's dwarf the MINI. This is at La Jolla Cove on the weekend. The best part was when we left and saw yet another SUV trying to fit in the space.

Get real.
I've seen pictures of minis in accidents, and although the mini is a little mushed, they walk away ok. Wasn't there a silk green one?

Since i love looking at investigations on our cases... i'd like to say the hummer crossed onto the trucks side of the road and then overcorrected, or didn't give himself enough reaction time while speeding, collided with the truck, overcorrected, and spun around. This caused the truck to be pushed back and a little to the left. I'd ASSUME head on since the front ends are both messed up.

...But i wouldn't know if other cars were involved. Maybe the hummer was chasing a mini out of the way, and the mini was able to get the hummer to chase it to the other side of the street, and got out of the way in time with it's quick maneuverability, thus causing the truck and hummer to collide.

Or it was just my first guess.

My last vehicle

I miss her, I could scare people into getting out of my way. I was always amazed by how many people would cut me off or pull out in front of me with out thinking about how long it would take me to stop. Seen lots of horrified looks on childrens faces because of thier parents stupidity!

But now I can drive away from stupidity w/ my MINI....if I can ever pry my keys away from the wife!

Cdnsnowman, this thread is discussing H2s, which is probably why you aren't seeing more comments about the F150. Those trucks have been "mentioned" in many threads here on NAM, btw.

Hope that helps.

Have you taken one on an extreme off-road course? You can't experience how good an H2 is on a test drive. The H2 will never be an H1, but an H1 as a daily commuter is also wrong.

If you can afford the price tag of a Hummer you're not worried about the gas mileage. The safety comment - the H2 is very safe and after seeing all the accidents on the road and nuts out there - the Mini and the H2 are the best bets for safety.
Glad you enjoy your H2 off-road but, unless you've got at least 4 other folks riding with you, I think the H2 is just as wrong as an H1 for a daily commuter. Not as a matter of affordability, but just from the standpoint of waste. If you commute solo, I hope you'll use the MINI.

Mini saves Hummer offroad

I don't know about those Hummers being so great off road. Check out this picture of a Hummer that fell over the side while off roading. It was pulled out by the little classic Mini. It was a Rescue Hummer too. Great shot from the Helicopter don't you think?

I cant find it but there is a great video of the H2 off roading over a MINOR rock formation. Something A Jeep of Defender could handle easily and as they are driving the axle snaps and the wheels cave inward! Its hilarious. Also it was posted before somewhere on NAM...there is a video where and H2 showed up to a Jeep off roading meet and got stuck on a tree stump in the PARKING LOT and had to be pulled out by a 1970's make Wrangler. Its not that great off road and too big to fit off road where Jeeps can go. The thing has independt front suspension for christ's sake! Any serious off roader knows that it is a big no no.

HAHAHAAAAA cute.

My little brother and cousin got into hummers for a while. Guess what their new obsessions are?

YES! THE MINI! I CONVERTED TWO TEN YEAR OLDS TO MINIS!! :P my cousin is starting a collections of toy minis, and his dad wants an S bad, and my little brother has a poster of a yellow S on his wall (no wonder i like him), and a little red super slick MINI. I race him with my little EB super slick * sadly, they both still have their collections of Hummers.

Has anyone seen the H1 pulling the silver mini at walmart? I kept putting off buying it because it had the hummer in the pack, but now i'm going to kick myself if it's gone!
