The MINI is not a SMART car. This is a SMART Car:

The question remains to be answered:

How smart is a SMART car?

Its the same thing, some people off-road their hummers and lots dont. Some people track their minis and some dont.

I agree that more people should use their car for what it was made for....but you cant call them stupid for it. You wouldnt last long on here calling everyone who doesnt track their car not smart....85% of the meets on here involve trips to restaraunts instead of tracks. I just went to a track event and was sad to only see 2 other minis....
That's not a very good analogy.

Even if you don't take your MINI to the track, you are still using it on the pavement, as its designer intended.

The Hummer, on the other hand, was designed for off-road use. So on-road use is not its intended purpose, and Hummer owners that drive exclusively on the pavement are misusing their vehicles.

Yes, the MINI can handle more than it gets in everyday street driving, but track use is on the same surface as the street, and is therefore an extension of street use. The things that make it a great track car are the same attributes that make it a great street car. With a Hummer, on the other hand, the design needs of off-road use and on-road use are inherently contradictory. That's why Hummers are stupid.

A MINI owner that does not track their car is nowhere near as offensive as a Hummer owner that sticks to the pavement.

We went to lunch after a British car show in May and parked our '05 MINI-S next to a H2, it was a real sight. See attached picts.

I parked next to H2 at Santana Row in SJ a couple of weeks ago. I took a pic of it but it's on my cam phone and I don't have a cable to download it. It's tires were taller then the hood of our MCS.

If you can't feel superior in an H2 you must be dead!

I stopped next to a black H2 in my black MCS, and the guy in the H2 smiled and told me he wanted to get a MINI. When I asked him why he didn't get one he replied with, "My wife thinks the H2 is the safest car on the road.(rolling eyes)" I laughed and shrugged and told him to sell it and buy a MINI. Poor guy, his wife is surely misinformed..

A few months back when I first got my Mini, I had to get pictures of it next to my friend's H1. As much as you can slate the Hummer, the original H1 is still a very nice truck, just not something I'd want to own. Great for driving to the mountain in a Nor'easter though for a day of skiing

I salute them with or without a camera. I guess I should really be careful as to whom I give the finger, lol.
On the way home from a MINI meet one day I saw a Range rover with a tire cover on the spare that said "Hummer Recovery Vehicle" I will have to dig up that pic.

H2's are actually pretty terrible off-road. They are too big to manuver through the woods and dont have enough clearance to go over rocks nicely. My friend is a hardcore off roader. Hes got a wrangler with a lift, big tires, ect. He says they always have to pull the H2's out when they get stuck. A few people in his offroading group also have that "H2 Recovery Team" sticker on their Jeeps. If you really wanna go off roading you get one of these..

The H2 is nothing more than an overpriced soccer mom vehicle.

I hear ya.

I should take a pic of my mini next to my truck. I track my mini and off road in my truck, the truck also works pretty well for pulling the bikes to go riding.

My wife has an Audi what is that for..lol

here is a pic of my truck, just the opposite of the mini. Mini = lowered, the truck is lifted :-) ( 6" with 35/12.50/17 MTA'S )

And proved by Panamerican Magazine. Even the Grand Cherokee is better for off-road. Forget all Land Rovers, Hummers, etc. Jeep is the King on off-road.

This car is for small european cities. Where I live can be used also, but we have to deal with those buses . Good car, good mpg (this car is 3 cil.), exchangable panel kits (like cell phones), and the price in the US is around 10K. I think.

H2 Incorrect Comments!!!!!!

After reading the above emails I laugh. I own a MCSC and a H2. Both vehicles have their place.

The biggest joke is those who make comments about the H2 and have never driven one. Next joke is those who say how bad they are off-road and have never driven one off road? Have you taken one on an extreme off-road course? You can't experience how good an H2 is on a test drive. The H2 will never be an H1, but an H1 as a daily commuter is also wrong.

I've had Jeeps, Land Rovers and now the Hummer. The after 3 jeeps of which two were absolute lemons, the H2 blows away any jeep. Think of how stupid the latest craze is - Jeep with a Hemi. Great for going straight and that's it - a hummer can easily out handle the Grand Cherokee. The Grand Cherokees that I bought new had the following defects that Jeep replaced: 9 sets of defective rotors, tranny, steering, fuel filters, electrical, drive shaft ... and I see all these Jeep die hearts claiming the jeep is a great vehicle that is absolute garbarge as they are unstable, unreliable pieces of junk- you couldn't give me one as they were the worst vehicles I've ever owned. The land rover was an excellent vehicle and was excellent off road. The issue was the gas mileage net of premium fuel was more expensive to run than a Hummer.

The mini is a great car and I love it. BUT for those who have never driven, owned a H2 - keep your comments to the facts - mini's are excellent vehicles. Stay to the facts of what you have experienced and don't speculate about a Hummer if you haven't driven one for a couple years.

One last comment. The consumer satisfaction quote above. Both the Hummer and the Mini were rated at the bottom: the mini for ranked lousy on size and the hummer on fuel economy. Well we all know that the mini is the most fun for the dollar as a car and if you buy a hummer that is 6300 lbs and you were expecting great gas mileage, then you're quite stupid. If you can afford the price tag of a Hummer you're not worried about the gas mileage. The safety comment - the H2 is very safe and after seeing all the accidents on the road and nuts out there - the Mini and the H2 are the best bets for safety.

Hummers belong in the military (in which I served, proudly) with more armor... and the yellow ones look like big school busses. I'll bet 90% of Hummers never see offroading whatsoever and though I could afford one of the behemoth soccer utility vehicles, I'd take a Jeep Wrangler over one any day.

Anyway, great initial picture. Those limos are real laughers. What are THEY comensating for, lol?

Last year I came upon the aftermath of a collision in which a Buick sedan t-boned an H2, which had tipped over on its side. The Buick was barely scratched, the H2 looked pretty wrecked.

the H2 is safe? For who? As you see the H2 doesn't fare up that well against other big cars. However, my main concern has always been the safety of others and the fuel economy. Great, so you're eating all the fuel to lug around a 6000 pound vehicle while getting to the supermarket. It's not only about price. People with H2 always seem to mention price. About being able to afford the car and the gas, but maybe some people just find it dumb to be wasteful.

As for safety, these cars SEVERLY limit the vision of every other vehicle on the road. And if you were to get in an accident with a smaller car, maybe an economy one that doesn't have side airbags, you'd be crushing them. Also in any emergency situation, you wouldn't be able to move quickly enough to get out of the way. This isn't a problem off-road where it is meant to be, but driving on the street and highway is just outright dangerous to others.

For me, the H2 is the ultimate symbol for "I only care about myself." and the the person doesn't care about the environment or the safety of others. they only care that this car looks cool.

Get real.
