Rally MINI Setup

The MINI begs to be a Rally car! With that said, and ignoring the WRC regulations that keep the MINI out, what would be your mods to a stock MINI to achieve that ultimate Rally setup?

Here's your chance, let's hear the suggestions! Preferably for a MC, I might want to use some of the suggestions!

Well, to be honest if your REALLY thinking of competing, sell the MINI and go buy a Suburu WRX STI. But if you just want to look like a rally car then just add four spots, light rims, a racing number, full roll cage, Cobra competition bucket seats, six point harnesses, fire extinguisher, a rally computer on the dash and a whole bunch of sponsor stickers. You might fool someone.

lol why do people assume the sti is a good rally car... the rally sti is a good rally car, store bought stis and evos break easy on the rally track... run a rally before you talk, seeing as my fully rally 74' cooper out runs evos and stis all day long on the sections... Either way to the answer...

depends on how hard core you wanna be really... I can list what I did: full race head, new cam, new shaft, clutch, (I recoment stainless not as light but... long story) straight cut gears are good for holding power and shifting hard... dunno if there is a box for the new mini yet. a few sets of wheels, all new front end... and I mean every part (dotta get those locks down) gut the inside gut the outside... gut her down to her skimpies, fuel cell, lighter batt., roll cage, cobra seats cuz they rock :-D get rid of that steering wheel that tach should go too, new ignition preferably with a flash chip that you can change your rev limit with(no chip for my old girl, but electronic ignition non the less), header, exhaust,(i should of done this in order), webber carbs I recomend 4 .45 bad boys ... (throtle body for the new mini), transmition cooler, extra oil and water coolers, (bigger boost charger for the new mini, aslo something my old girl dosn't have), bore the motor, new brakes, new rear end, all fiberglass panels or plastic would benifit alot, seeing as front bumbers get torn off alot, on the 74' I just have a black front bumper, gauges upon gauges ofcourse... did I mention bore the motor most of all stay calm brake early, you can save from too much brake... too little and once you go off you can't always get back on... the sides can be a little more "troublesome" then on the track. oh and make sure to get coves for your lights, vinal plastic... tape whatever it takes... lenses these days seem to break easy... or maybe it's just me >_>
