R50/53 Gosh darn CUP HOLDER

(BTW I was joking in my previous post, I think the word is "facetious"; nothing makes me mental on account of my MINI, cept maybe when people touch it)
I never use it for coffee, but it's just the right size for a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream! The B&J is always rock hard when I buy it, but a few minutes in the cup holder during the drive home leaves it just right for scooping!
The CEO of Audi said a few years ago while addressing a group of share holders at their annual meeting, and I quote:
"If the Americans want cup holders they can go to KMart"
Only he wasn't laughing, he was dead serious

As long as there's none in Ferraris, my world will not come to an end...
I like the cupholder.
I have a 68 mile commute and my 20oz Dunkin Donuts cup fits perfectly.
There is also the added convenience of re-directing my Passport Fuzzfinder cord around the HK and climate controls.

Balance and harmony restored.
After 6 months of "should I take it off, or keep it?", the cup holder is gone.
The interior is now "right." I can't believe what an aesthetic difference the removal of that afterthought made. I may miss it at times, but it just didn't fit the design of the dash.

I am very guilty of bringing this thread up again like bad Chinese food. My question is regarding how to keep the bolted on cup holder from rattling like crazy? We have had our Cabrio for a month now and the weather is finally letting us drive it. I put my hand on it for half of my commute this morning. Sounds like I should just remove it.
I'm torn on the big cup holder. One side of my likes it for convenience of placing my iPhone or random things. However when I do a large drink inside of it the cup holder moves from side to side. Is that maybe because it is old and the part is not quite as tight as it once was. It put is 5 yrs old.
