R50/53 My god, they're everywhere.
I work in Livermore and live in Stockton. I rarely see them around here but around work I see about 1 Mini a day. It's a mix of MC and MCS and I see an occasional MCC and MCSC. I wave at fellow drivers and most of the time they wave back.
Was in New York city with the car this weekend. Piquick's first trip in. Also the first time I had 4 people in the car. FANTASTIC!!!! The perfect city car. Great to park, and happened to have sweet parking karma to boot. Manuevered around these freak SUVs (which have no place in Manhattan as far as I'm concerned) with ease. Loved it. An abosute blast zipping around traffic.
I was very impressed with the pick-up the car had with 4 adults. Didn't feel much different than with me in it alone.
Put the top down and drove through Times Square, always a fun drive at night.

I know what you all mean. We're getting infested with them
. I was in downtown Vancouver (BC) this weekend and they were all over the place. I don't work downtown, but a bunch of us in my office got together and took a group shot of some of the MINIs in my office parking lot.

I know that there have been several times I thought Wiggles was going to cause a wreck because people are watching her and NOT the road. At least they won't hit me because I am the only thing they are aware of.
I have seen more and more minis here in east tennessee and they are pissing me off
. Not once has anyone waved or smiled or anything. Bunch of stuck up snobs
.
I guess there is the slight possisibility that they don't see me but I don't see how not. I mean i am freaking bright red!!!! sorry

I still think the boston area takes the cake.
I walked four blocks to get a haircut the other weekend and passed SEVEN. And they were all parked. I'm sure if I walked a little slower a few more would have passed me as they often do.
The downside is, they are so common, no one cares, they don't even notice you waving. :(

Fortunately the MINI is still a rare bird in my town. Not a lot of cosmopolitan hipsters in Ogden, Utah (fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it).
I've yet to see a cabrio driving around town, so I'll certainly enjoy some exclusivity when my car arrives in a couple of weeks.
That's one thing I didn't like when I lived in Orange County; no matter how hard you try to be "different," there are 10,000 other people who are "different" just like you.

Okay. Now let's be calm. This is still a rare car. I mean, compared to a Honda Accord. Then, it's almost non-existent!
Okay, so there's only a little over 100,000 in the USA. Doesn't Honda build about that many in 1 month?
I'm not going to worry. I know that there will be plenty of people who think that I have a silly little car--but that's okay. They can just keep to their SUVs.
BTW, I just paid $2.74 for premium today! My fillup was $40.00. That's more than a few free lunches!

Of course, I am noticing them more now that I have one.
In Tampa I can go an entire day without seeing one, then I get back to my neighborhood which is near the city and more urban and I will see 1-2 of them usually. There are 3 that live within 3 blocks, and recently a little further away I spotted a gorgeous MCS cabrio, that orange with the white bonnet stripes, very nice.
Nearly everyone waves here so far (owned mine for 2 weeks). I opened the windows and sunroof, pushed the seat back and took a long slow drive tonight on Bayshore boulevard watching as the sun went down (75 degrees F and breezy today).
I have owned a lot of nice cars: MGB, A6, various Saabs, 280ZX, 530i--but I have never LOVED what I drive as much as this (well the 280 was close, but I was a child and it had a cool digital dash).

Having owned the MINI for over 2 years now, I must say, ever since March, a trip doesn't go by where i dont see at least 3 MINI's. Compared to when I originally bought it, it was more like once or twice a week!
They are so many that it is becoming a burden making sure I wave, beep beep, or flash flash at all of them! What's worse is that around half (that's a lot!!!) of these people ignore you or haven't a clue what's going on! It wouldn't be a burden if more of these people responded. You know, the ratio of non-responders is probably even worse since this recent high saturation.
