Question about Bonnet Stripes on Jet Black

I was wondering if anybody has bonnet stripes on Jet Black '05s. In particular, I'm wondering about the detail--is it just a broad white stripe? Or is it a white stripe accented by pin stripes?

I'm asking because I've seen many pics of black MINIs with white bonnet stripes; they appear to be simple, broad white stripes w/o any pin stripe accents.

Please, elucidate me!

Merci!

white stripes on an "S" model have a black pinstripe which will disappear against a black bonnet.

Regular Coopers have a solid white stripe with no pinstripe.

But, is this true of '05s?

As far as I know MINI Coopers still gets soild stripes and the MINI Cooper S gets a pinstipe on the edges. It's like that on MINIUSA.

When I ordered my 04 Cooper (Oct. 03) I was given a choice of plain or pinstripe. As I understand it, the Cooper S is given the pinstripe and they are installed at the factory. The Cooper stripes are installed by the dealer.

I personally like the pinstripe...

Actually, the pinstripe is referred to as "Rule". In the configurator, the stripe has to be the roof color, but not the body color. So, if you have a black car, you can only specify a white stripe if you also have the white roof.

In my 05 MCS, I ordered a black car with a black roof. Since it makes no sense to put a black stripe on a black car, and the configurator won't put on a white stripe unless the car has a white roof, I had to have the stripe put on at the dealership.

FLOW MINI in Winston-Salem, NC offered me the white stripe as either plain or with a silver/gray rule. I opted for the rule, and it looks fantastic. It sets the white stripe apart, and blends excellently with the black car. You can see the combo in my sig file and can see it larger in my gallery.

I was told by my MA that stripes were installed by the dealer, and this was in regards to a MCS

Stripes can be ordered on the car from the factory.
They can also be installed by the dealer, but that would be more expensive...they would only do this if you didn't custom-order or they found one elsewhere for you.

The black pinstripes are mostly unnoticable, certainly not seen by other traffic, only up close can you see:

When I had my new hood painted, I had the white stripes painted on. :D

I have an 05 Jet Black MCSC and YuccaPatrol is correct.

If you apply the bonnet stripes in the configurator the car comes that way from the factory. My stripes are white with the black rule, but as jwardell commented, you really don't notice the black since it just blends in with the rest of the hood.

So, as a "rule," you really can't see it on the black car. Hmm. I wonder if some customizing is in order . . .

Thanks, all!

Silver Rule

You DEFINITELY notice the silver/gray rule against the black car and white stripe.

It seems silly that the factory uses a black pinstripe against a black car.

My dealership did not charge me to install the white/silver stripes on my black/black car, since a stripe is included in package #2 but the configurator won't allow a white stripe if you get a black roof.
