25K mile service

At approx 25K what service is it? Is it a Inspection 1 service? or Inspection 2?

Are they suppose to replace anything? Change any fluids besides the oil?

I know it says that Brake Fluid is suppose to be changed every 2 years... I'm at that now... but not really due for a service... can I go in and just do that and have them inspect my brakes?

Hmmm... change the CVT fluid at 25K?

Hmmm... I see you got that information from the Bentley Service Manual. Is that the same as in the actual MINI Dealer Service Manual?

Reason I ask is because last month the dealer performed 25K service on my 2003 MINI CVT, and they did not change the CVT fluid. They did pretty much (at least they say they did!) everything on that list except change the CVT fluid.

The service advisor did say that on or after my 2 year anniversary owning the car (which is June 6) that I can make an appointment and they will change the brake fluid free of charge.

I'm wondering now -- is it OK to drive the car with 2-year old CVT fluid, should I go back in June and insist they replace the CVT fluid while they're changing the brake fluid anyway... thing is, they will probably want to see some documentation that states "change CVT fluid at 25K" but I do not have that documentation...is it printed in the MINI manual that came with the car?

Thanks much,

-boognish

25k

at my 25k they documented 'level 1 service', changed oil and flushed brake system / changed fluid "because inspection showed it needed it"

no charge

Just checked with the CVT manufacturer...

Well, sort of. I found, and downloaded, the entire CVT Service Manual (actually it's more of a complete description of the ZF VT1F CVT gearbox) from MINI2.com. On page 10, it says "A refill of the transmission oil is necessary every 45,000km"

I believe 45,000 kilometers is equivalent to approximately 28,000 miles. So, I am going to print out this manual and bring it to the dealer in June (at which time I will have about 29,000 miles on the MINI) during the free brake fluid change. Hopefully they will also agree to change the CVT fluid, once they see what's printed in the manufacturer's manual.

Thanks,

Thanks cristo... I read all that in mini usa where it shows whats to be done at what service... I was interested in knowing if 25Kmiles was a inspection 1 or 2...

and seems like the answer is right here.
