FYI...it's good to be on top of this stuff...I remember the early MINI ads saying they had a four star crash rating...apparently only from the front!

Ummm...the MINI was not included in the side-impact test you just placed a link too. It only states the front/rear.

Did you read your article?

yes I did

the reports came in three pieces: front, side and rear. I merely posted the one that gave the overall score. The web page loaded very slowly which is why I didn't post the other two...maybe I'm web-lazy

The IIHS just released their study of 16 small cars and 14 got a poor rating. The MINI was not included in the test but WILL be tested later this year. There were design changes for the safety in a side impact crash and that is what IIHS is waiting for...a new MINI with that upgraded safety.
