Everybody has opinions about movies. That's kind of why we go see them. So I'm not going to rag on somebody's favorite because it's not mine, but I will say that in the Italian Job remake they did most of the driving for real. No heavy CGI, real stunts on real streets and subways. Of course the subterranean MINIS were electric powered not gas, but they were MINIs, not zeros and ones. Pretty brave of F. Gary Gray (the director).

I found the ending of the first film totally unsatisfying. On the other hand, it was very 60's. You have to see it in context to the times. But as far as driving sequences, it can't come close to either Bullit or French Connection. But, that's just my opinion.

 

loved them both-obviously totally different movies.I am left with a reflection in the old version that no one else seems to have noticed: when the Lambo(or Lancia) was pushed over the cliff in the beginning ,by the time it reached the bottom,there was NOTHING left but debris.........NOTHING! However, when the classics were pushed out the back of the bus, they ALL reached the bottom basically intact!(I think one of them shed a door on the way down ).

As far as the goofy ending......Classically british!Noel Coward....Brilliant!Benny Hill.........well, Benny Hill, what did you really expect?and the fact that there were so few deleted scenes...Hollywood is still jealous of this I'm sure,although I did like the deleted scene in the skating rink )
