SES, DSC, EML lights come on

When I start my car, the SES and DSC lights come on and stay on. Sometimes my car will stall even in neutral. When I drive, the car will violently buck once the RPM's get around 2-3k in any gear. Eventually, the EML light will come on and the throttle will stop responding. The only way to get the throttle to respond again is to shut off the car and then turn it back on - This is not safe to do on the highway going 70mph which I have had to do several times.

Anyone have any idea as to what is causing this?

And, what exactly does "EML" stand for?

My car is a '03 MCS w/ 15% pulley and Alta CAI. The car worked fine and never had this problem until I got it back from being repaired after an accident. I have taken it back once to get the problem fixed, they said they fixed it and it turns out they had not. I am taking the car in tomarrow, but I would like to get a better understanding of what the possible issue is.

Thanks for all your help in advance!

real tough to say when you drive a computer, but its definitely sounds like a computer issue. That is the symptom of your ecu shutting off and coming back on.(sounds like to me)

When I repainted mine, some of the engine grounding wires were disconnected, then of course reconnected when done. but one of them was only put on the pin and the nut wasnt tightened all the way. This led it to disconnect sometime(rattling around on the pin) and the ecu would restart. I got the similar EML light and the car would buck and throttle response was non-existant. My stalling was only momentary because the connection was only being lost for a fraction of a second.

So, i would say check all the connections first. Maybe your problem is really easy to fix and will save you a bunch.

Hope this helps

I have a feeling that you may just be right! One of my friends had suggested the same idea.

And what exactly does "EML" stand for?

"EML" stands for Engine Electronics according to the owners manual. It goes to say "You can continue to drive with reduced engine output or engine speed. Have the vehicle checked as soon as possible".

I dont know how we get EML from Engine electronic but whatever floats Mini's boat, haha.

Thanks guys for your help!

One last question, where are all the grounding points located? Are they easy or hard to get to?
