Hello everyone I am closing in on the 50,000 miles. Around then I will be due for Inspection II... I was wondering if anyone else has had this done and what amount did you pay? I have about 5,000 miles to go but I am taking the car in on wed. I left a message requesting a total for Inspection and should get a call tomorrow. I know on BMW's it can be upwards of $500. Is MINI the same? Thanks

 

I fellow member of MichiganMINI just had their 50k "Inspection II". For $550, they had an oil change, cabin filter change, belt change, and had their brake pads checked, that's it. BMW's "Inspections" are nothing you can't do yourself. Maybe worth $200, but defintely not asking price.

At 50k, however here's what I'dchange and inspect:
*Oil and filter
*cabin microfilter
*accessory belt (esp. important for MCS)
*top off coolant, steering, and brake fluids
*inspect front and rear brakes
*inspect power steering fan
*inspect accessory belt tensioner for leaky damper
*inspect front stut top mount bushing for cracks in rubber
*inspect front wheel bearings for smoothness
....I think that's about it for the major stuff

Thanks for the Info. $500 and up was what I was afraid of. I know my brakes are all good as they all have been replaced already, but I remember reading somewhere in the manual that the brake fluid should be changed after 2 years which juts passed last month. I am not that technically inclined with car repairs. After I get a call back from MCM I might be giving Detroit Tuned a call.
