No Advertising?

Why don't we see any Cooper commercials?

Nice signature, by the way.

My guess would be that it's because they are selling every Cooper that they can build. Even though I think there was something in the paper this week about MINI increasing capacity.

As long as almost every West Coast MINI dealer is charging a mark-up over MSRP, there probably aren't going to be many commercials until supply exceeds demand.

I saw a nice, understated MINI commercial/sponsor blurb after a PBS program a few months ago, but don't think I've seen a "real" commercial on network tv for some time.

That said, I think the billboard campaign has been very impactful and cost effective. Why quadruple your costs and get lost in the zero interest/zero carbs/everyone conform adspace?

As a marketer, I admire MINI's total control of their branding and the masterful, continuously inventive ways they support the MINI mystique and identify owners and admirers as smart free-thinkers (much in the Apple/Mac vein).

I'm a MINI marketing sheep and I love it!

We have the odd TV ads up here, and lots of radio spots. The radio ones are little stories about how the cars handle. They tend to be cute.

I agree... Also, as a brand targeting unconventional buyers, MINI believes that it can best attract them with non-conventional advertising. So, in both media selection and creative, they have strived to be unconventional.
Dogspeed.

No advertising? Hell, you are driving the advertisement!

Personally, I find the lack of advertising a plus, and what advertising there is happens to be very unconventional, intelligent and creative. A refreshing change given the totally stupid, inane and ignorant advertising for just about anything these days.
