So it finally happened. I was headed out and the fuel pump decided to stop working. I suppose it was about time as it was over 150k miles and never touched. (2006 r53).

Anyway, figured I'd upgrade- because why not? I purchased a Deatschwerks DW65v. All looked fine save for the little corrugated plastic line that attaches the top of the pump to the filter line. I tried to save the old one but it needed to be cut off on both ends.
The new piece was a very tight fit over the pump nozzle and did not fit at all to the filter line. I hit it with heat and stretched it and made it fit but the fitting is barbed and the line would still not push in all the way. I tied it down as best as I could but I would prefer something that fits better.

I cannot seem to find this part and considered trying some sort of fuel friendly alternative but no dice yet.

Any thoughts?

Also, swapped the fuel filter that was 3 years old and it was super clean- looked new. So, that's good news...

 

I only swap as whole units. I did just the pump on a 2006 Matrix - during Covid, I could only get a pump, not an assembly. I think you have to get a whole assembly from VDO. that is not a place to make mistakes.
