Steering Angle Sensor - Can it be physically fixed?

I'd recently had the SES & DSC light up on my dash. After running an OBDII scan came back with these fault codes:

_5E43 ABS-DCS : Steering Angle sensor, internal
_04 LWS : Slider Fault (adjustment operation)
_5E19 : ABS-DSC : CAN data error from DME/DDE (DSC lamp on as long as error is present).

With respect the first two Steering angle faults; I cleared the codes and I've tried the "clock left, hold, clock right, hold" precedure several times. In addition performed the live data to see/dial in at 0.0° but could only get as close as 0.04. Unfortunately, eventually 70 - 100 mi later the DSC light will illuminate and the steering angle faults come back.
I have noticed for some time now (1yr), that the play/slop in my steering wheel has increased by 1/4" (e.g: from center seam - 1/8" left / 1/8" right). I imagine that the lower "knuckle" at the end of the steering shaft is beginning to wear. Could that also contribute to the steering angle faults?

But going back to the Steering angle sensor - I had read a post/discussion here on NAM where a member had similar issues and managed to remove and disassemble the steering angle sensor. Apparently, discovering the problem related to the internal copper "fingers" / contacts.
Some were bent and had corrosion/oxidation. Yet I can't find the post or recall if they ever fixed the problem after repair & replacement of said sensor.
Anyway - Is it at all possible to repair or clean a faulty Angle sensor?
Any additional thoughts that might contribute to the fault codes listed above?

Thanks in advance. Thoughts and insite grately appreciated.

Maybe. It depends on how it is broken, and how good you are. Get a new / know good used one. Experiment on your broken one. It’s hard to diagnose with what we have so far.

Of my four MINIs, I have had to replace two in the last eight years.

As far as taking the SAS apart/ cleaned , I did that based on a YouTube video and reset it using the Swaben Professional scan tool with no success. Ended up replacing it with new and having it reset at MiniCorsa in Burbank; problem solved …

Were you the one who posted that thread I was referring to?
At any rate; lt appears that these steering angle sensors, new, are priced all over the board $$ - From $480 =Genuine to $70 generic. (eBay is not even a consideration for me). @Tombstone ,did you end up replacing with OEM/GENUINE? The sad realization for me (personally), is having to go to the dealer to re-set & calibrate. I'd thought my Foxwell NT510 Elite would do the trick...but it doesn't seem capable/likely...

Correction the Foxwell NT510 is what I used not Swaben as stated (which doesn’t clear these codes ) so I purchased the OEM/Genuine from Oreilly Autoparts made by Standard Ignition pn# SWS 91 $356 which was labeled BMW when opening the box , which was cool…
