Driveshaft replacement question

Hey all, 2005 Mini Classis 1.6 Non Aspirated. While doing the front rotors, found both my inner cv boots are toast. If I plan to replace the hubs at the same time as the driveshafts, will the shafts fit and be able to be removed through the spindle, or do I have to remove the ball joints etc., to allow the axle to slide out that way?( as shown on many U tube video's)

Thanks

You will need to separate the ball joints from the control arms. Very easy and straightforward with the right tool.

You might think it's easier to remove the ball joint from the knuckle since it's just two bolts, but it is almost certainly seized in place and a total pain to remove.

edit: The bolts that hold the hub to the knuckle are tty and one time use. Torque to 20Nm (15lb-ft) and then rotate an additional 90°
Also, while you're in there it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the output shaft seals on the trans.
Finally, I HIGHLY recommend GKN driveshafts (they're OEM) - the cheaper ones aren't worth it.
